My husband and I took our two children, ages 4 and 9, for a 3 day weekend June 20-23rd. The hotel is very close to attractions. Museums and Capitol were within walking distance. There was also a very close Metro stop, but we didn't use this. The room was standard but very clean and well-maintained. I requested an extra pillow and blanket the first night but never received it. The restaurant is average. The underground parking is terrible. The spaces are extremely tiny and having to pay $25 per night in addition to the room fee is ridiculous! There are no options close by for food with the exception of museum cafeterias. The rooftop pool was nice and a lifeguard was always present. The location is the best thing about this hotel.

I had seen several reviews and talked to many people about where to stay in the Capitol and this hotel was highly recommended. I have to say that everyone I talked to who raved about the Holiday Inn were right. This place was fantastic. If you have to stay in DC or just want to vacation there, chose this place, it is probably one of the best bargains for your travelling dollar you'll ever see. Clean, comfortable, and within walking distance of almost everything. You could pay less for somewhere farther out, but sometimes more is much better! I rate the Holiday Inn as a "MUST STAY".

We stayed here for two nights in a disabled room. Facilities ok but one of the beds was a pull-out sofa bed not good. The decor of the room was a little tired.

The staff of this hotel are its strength. The Smithson restuarant is average.

The location is excellent.

The location of the Hotel to the museums is absolutely wonderful. You can really walk to all the mayor sites if you are a first time visitor as I was. We had 2 days and found the location very good. To walk to the science museum was about 3 minutes.
What we did not like about the Hotel was all the groups of school children staying there. As you can imagine kids will be kids. Personally i will not stay there again but rather book into a Hotel that is quieter at night.
The room itself was 3 star. No fancy thrills and the basic standard of a 3 star. There was maintenance needed in the bathroom and room.
The swimming pool was noisy and children (teenagers) splashing and shouting.
We ate at the museums restaurants and used Quisnos and Star Bucks for light meals.
The reception was not very helpful. We had to insist on a room with no connecting door to another room and found it irretating on the lack of friendliness.
I think the Hotel is too expensive for what you get and that you pay premium because of the good location and not the Hotel's facilities.
