I read about Dino in my inflight magazine and was intrigued by the description of the restaurant's 500-day aged prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella (flown in twice a week from Campania.) We tried both on our first visit and were delighted with the results! Dino has a fun, eclectic but not fussy atmosphere - I saw people in business attire and casual clothes. There is a small bar that appeared to seat about 8 people max, so I wouldn't count on finding room at the bar if you have to wait long for a table. I made two trips to Dino and didn't wait either time. (Although I had reservations the second time, so that definately helped.) The restaurant has an extensive wine selection and knowledgable servers to guide your beverage decision-making. The menu has a nice array of choices, including a wide selection of appetizers, entrees, cheese plates, and, of course, desserts. Most of the pasta is house-made and delicious. I enjoyed the wild boar pasta and the grilled vegetable pasta on my two trips there. My companions had the rack of wild boar (which was very tasty, although somewhat hard to strip the meat from the bone), and the "free-form" lasagne - richly creamy plate with noodles, veal, and even a touch of bacon. Here's the deal sealer - whatever you do, don't miss dessert! The Tiramisu and Gellato with a balsamic reduction sauce (monodori) were both fantastic. (I know the balsamic / gellato combo sounds weird but try it anyway. You will not be disappointed.)
A tip on getting there - tell your cab driver to take Connecticut NW all the way past Woodley Park Zoo and to keep going! The restaurant is at the end of a long strip of shops and restaurants right across the street from the Uptown Theatre. Enjoy!
