Melrose Hotel, Washington DC

My family and i stayed at the Melrose for 3 nights, our stay was excellent not a problem. Our room was very clean we had the Superior which comes with a microwave, fridge and coffee maker seperate from the rest of the room which is great since we traveled with kids. Very close to the metro and all other forms of public transportation. No need to rent a car parking is expensive. The Melrose is within less than a 5 minute walk to Georgetown, lots of shops and restaurants. The staff at the Melrose were very friendly and very helpful. This hotel is just as good as any other 5 star hotel.Service for me and my family are always top and the Melrose does just that.

Our second day we did the open top sightseeing bus, you buy a 2 day pass and that allows you to get on and off at any of there stops. The bottom of the bus is air comditioned so this is perfect for those traveling with small children. If you can't get back to the bus before they stop running no worries hop on the metro back to the hotel we did.You can either buy your tickets online or pay for them on the bus they take credit cards.
OPENTOPSIGHTSEEING.COM
This is a must do.The stop is in front of the Four Seasons Hotel about a 5-7 minute walk from the MELROSE if that much.

We also did the trolley tour at night they start at 7pm which it is still very bright outside. The tour itself is good but our experience with the company was NOT. ROYAL TOURS by this i mean that the weather was so hot that taking the trolley was not an option so they used a bus instead which would of been fine had the bus not been outdated and the AC not working well. At everystop you have a certain time to be back on the bus to me we just felt rushed, by the time you exit and walk to the sight to take a picture it's time to go back.So a word to the wise if you can't use the trolley before you book use GRAYLINE INSTEAD.
Refunds are not giving. Other than that everything was great.

Twice we ate at Uno's Chicago Grille on M street and Wisconsin Ave, the food was great but if you are really hungry not the place service is very slow.
We also ate at Furin's on M street for breakfast excellent food, they are across the street from the Four Seasons Hotel.
Also try Marshall's restaurant around the corner from the Melrose the food was very good, but eat downstairs if you have children with you upstairs is a bar.

“5 Star Location + 5 Star Decor + Great Staff = Wonderful Stay”

It stands head and shoulders above other 4 Star hotels.
I'd rate it a solid 4.5.

Its not new or newly redecorated...so you could have individual "room issues" Our hair dryer was dead.. not a big deal...the carpet could have been "cleaner looking" but I'd book here again in a heart beat.

Wonderful

What a lovely hotel. We were made to feel welcome and at home by all the great staff here. Nothing was too much trouble.
The room was large, bed comfortable, very clean and the food was great.
It took about 20 minutes to walk to downtown Washington, which we didn't mind, as the walk is very interesting, with many great things to see.

“Great place and convenient too!”

We stayed here during the Memorial Day weekend. We were not disappointed with the hotel. The beds were quite comfortable, the room was clean and spacious. The location was quite close to the Georgetown neighbourhood, which was very nice to walk around. You're also very close to the Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro stop, making getting around the DC area very convenient, as well as the GWU Medical Center if you need to medical treatement.

The service of the hotel was very good. Our room was clean when we arrived, and the housekeepers earned our tips. We were accomodated with a noon time check in on a holiday weekend.

We would advise picking perhaps another weekend other than Memorial Day to visit DC. We got caught up with the Rolling Thunder event, where Vietnam War veterans commemorate the holiday by riding on all types of motorbikes, primarily Harley Davidsons. All weekend, we heard the gunning of motorcycle engines, and really contributed to a ton of noise pollution.

Stayed at the Melrose 3 days and were very pleased. Great location, very clean rooms and baths; excellent staff were efficient, helpful and friendly.
Wonderful area for walking and shopping. We will stay there again and would be happy to suggest this hotel to friends. it is also pet friendly, which is another plus.
