This 4 star hotel is very nice for people who want to be in on the action but not too close to the city. It is about a 20min drive to the city, though why would you want to go when there is so much happening in Freo. This hotel is close to pubs, clubs, restaurants, shops and the markets. It really is a good choice if you don't have a car. The hotel itself is what you would expect from a 4 star hotel (and maybe a little more). The rooms and bathrooms are of a good size and very clean. Some have views of the pool or of the marina. This hotel is great to stay at in summer as there are two pools and 3 jacuzzi's (all heated) and a bar right next to both.
I don't think that I would choose to eat in the hotel when there are much nicer and cheaper places a few metres away.

Unique Qualities: The pools and spa's are great in summer and winter. Both are warm enough to visit all year round.

“Don't stay in room 411”

Esplanade Hotel Fremantle

We stayed at the esplanade on our wedding night and the next.
Our room was located next door to the loudest boiler Ive ever heard and we only slept the 1st night because we were dead tired. However, the noise was unbearable on the 2nd night and w had to move rooms. This room should definitely be kept aside as a broom closest, not to hire out to guests.
The manager should try and sleep in room 411 and see if they still believe it is of 4 star quality.

Stayed here for a work trip to a WA client. We booked in on their rate which was substantially lower than rack rates. Staff were very friendly at reception, however the servicing was below par. Had to go to reception on my 3rd day to get some tea bags since they had never been replaced. Beds are well below standard I would expect. My room was 2 beds zipped together and a single and that the best place to sleep was on the zipper section, Beds had huge hollows in them and were soft and it's never a good sign when covered with cheap bedspreads.

On the plus side breafast could be done with just using the minibar. Small bowls and spoons provided and a selection of cereals. No need to get room service.

Not a lot of options when staying in Freo but would stay in Perth city and travel to the client if I had to go again.

We stayed at the Esplanade on Xmas Eve and have done so previously. The staff have always been more than helpful and very very friendly. We have never had a problem with them. The buffet is HUGE and there is a lot of choice. We had Xmas Eve dinner there and it was just great.

The room had a nice balcony and was very clean. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

“Overpriced and poor service (except for the valet staff)”

Esplanade Hotel Fremantle

When booking our Executive Suite with the Esplanade we mentioned the rather mixed reviews on Trip Advisor & were assured the problems were historical & we would get a good room/view. On arrival before Christmas we were given a small, dark, tatty room & could not be moved until the next day.

The pools are small & taken over by private corporate parties, as was the service in the restaurant. That didn't really bother us however as the food is very basic, buffet style and we were glad to eat out. All in all a dated hotel with staff that don't really care - except the smashing valet / concierge staff especially the lady who is excellent.

Far too expensive compared to the 1960's Butlins style rooms provided.
