Uniquestay Hotel Tallinn

Another hotel well chosen thanks to Tripadvisor.
We stayed at Uniquestay last weekend and were happy with the results.
We opted to take then ZEN room. Others have stated they are not worth the extra but we really valued the extra space and lovely bathroom (£111 for three nights via Expedia b/w a couple is a great deal). The whirlpool bath was just what was needed after a day of wondering the lovely cobbled streets in -10 degree weather.
We arrived via ferry from Helsinki and paid for the hotel transfer. This does cost more than the average taxi though at a total of £8 we were happy to pay for the piece of mind. We took advantage of the transfer to the airport on departure also.
No problem at all with the standard of the room. Both the bedroom and bathroom very clean and a nice collection of products were to be found in the bathroom (including bath salts).
The in room computer and internet were a welcome addition and not something you often see.
Check in and out were problem free and the staff were friendly and willing to help with any information need at all.
We stayed on the 2nd floor and found the heating to be more than adequate (too good at times but easily altered if required).
The location, as stated is brilliant. Just a 10min walk into the old town. You just need to walk up the hill and past the stunning Aleksander Nevsky Cathedral and you are nearly there.
Some minor grumbles would be the thin pillows (seems to be a running theme with me though lol). The in-room safe did not work and no-one came to fix it even though they said they were on the way. Once our room was not cleaned until after 1600 and the horrible smell is still present in the lift in the mornings but you are in it for 30 seconds so hey. All minor grumbles really though and nothing that would put me off returning again.
Breakfast was included and consisted of a fine collection of hot and cold dishes.
As advised we did try out the Olde Hansa for dinner which was great fun (no major need to book in winter). We also enjoyed the Hell Hunt pub (on Pikk) and The Beer Hall (on Dunkri 5) for great food and cheap beer!
Overall you cannot really beat the location and the price!

“Too cold to be good”

Uniquestay Hotel Tallinn

Our room was only 12° C warm and even with the heater running at full strength. The lady at the reception wasn't surprised but she said that all rooms in the third floor are that cold, because it is under the roof. She couldn't offer us another room, because the hotel was fully booked.

Apart from that the rooms are tiny, the bathroom too. After a shower it is flooded.

The best about the hotel is its location close the old town. It takes you only 10-15 minutes to get there.

Taxi is about 100-150 EEK to the airport. Depends on the company you choose.

Uniquestay Hotel Tallinn

We stayed at this hotel for 7 days from January 13 2007. For what we paid we think we did very well. The hotel is a 10 minute walk to the old town.

We got here on the bus from the airport, take the airport bus (bus No 2) into town and get off at Viru Keskus on A. Laikmaa. Cross the road and go into the bus station (it is down some steps under the shopping area) and catch the 40 bus at platform 3. Make sure that the bus has Randla as its terminus. The bus stop has buses going each way from the same platform!
Get off at hotel Tallinn (4 stops) and the hotel is 100 metres down the road on the opposite side to the bus stop. Buy your tickets in the airport at the R Kiosk get a book of 10 for 85 EEK. If you get them on the bus they cost 15 EEK each. You will need a ticket for each bus. so its only cost you 17 EEK from the airport.

Change some money at the exchange near the post office counter (turn left as you come out into the main hall), the R Kiosk (found by turning right) has a bank exchange next door to it which has poor rates.

The hotel has a very good breakfast, they serve from 7.30 to 10.00 sharp. They kept filling up things even though the hotel was not very full. The cafe (where you eat your breakfast) is very good for an evening or midday meal.

Our room was adequate, it could have done with more coat hangers and drawers for our clothes. There or no closing cupboards it looks like a shop rail! The internet was most useful.

Our room did have an odd smell at times but we were generally pleased with what we paid and with what we got. The postion of the hotel is a real plus. The reception staff are very helpful and sorted out two minor problems immediately.

Do stay here but don't expect the Ritz for the price you pay. We would definitely stay here again. The position is great

“Perfect stay!”

We book a triple room on december for four nights.
The Hotel is near the Parliament and Nevsky Cathedral, just 5 minutes away from the old town center. The atmosphere is awesome, well decorated and very modern.
People at the reception was very polite and helpful (beautiful ladies at reception!!!) and the service was great, specially breakfast. Our room was excellent. We paid for a tree star hotel, but I think you get more than that . The room was provided with a computer with internet access (totally free) a spacious bathroom, a boiler and a selection of coffee and the. Well decorated room and everything was functional. We enjoy our stay and we are going to highly recommend this hotel!!!.

Originally booked the Mikhli (sister hotel) for 6 - 9 December but transferred here after one night in Mikhli, as room was below par. Receptionist was helpful with the transfer.

Uniquestay is slightly closer to Old Town and is far superior to Mikhli. We stayed in a Zen room with jacuzzi after paying the supplement. The room is spacious and modern. Initial problems with heating were sorted swiftly. the room also contains a cooker, sink and microwave for some reason - but we did not use them.

Breakfast is good (better than Mikhli) and staff are pleasant and helpful. All in all, would recommend this place and would come back here.
