“Wow, I loved the Andels!”

Andel's Hotel Prague

5 of 5 stars
Bucks, England
Mar 30, 2008

The hotel is so chic and modern. It is located near the metro and is also easily walking distance into Prague, but we got the metro most of the time (around a 2 min walk), the metro is also really cheap and the hotel front desk sell the tickets.

The room was very clean and very different, it has everything you needed. The bathroom was very unusual, but great. The breakfast has everything you could want and kept me going until lunchtime.

Prague itself is beautiful and I really want to go back and will be going back to the Andels to stay.

“Not bad; a little disappointed”

Andel's Hotel Prague

Mar 29, 2008

Stayed at Andel's Prague for 3 nights in March 2008. Perhaps I was expecting too much based on all the glowing reviews I had read about the hotel before our stay, but I merely found it a pleasant hotel, nothing spectacular.

PROS: Not having brought our laptop on the trip, we really appreciated the free use of the internet-enabled PCs located in the lobby (there are two). Sometimes there's a wait, sometimes not, but generally people were pretty good about not hogging up the time.

The Andel's staff are also friendly and helpful. We inquired about a salsa club in Prague, and the concierge knew exactly where to go (Tropison Club in the Kotva department store!)

The breakfast buffet was also decent; a fair variety of foods but nothing to write home about.

Also, as another poster mentioned, the 700CZK for the private car back to the airport is well worth it. We had taken a shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel (250CZK, I believe), and it just felt like a lot of wasted time waiting for other passengers. The private car (a VW sedan) was a quick 20 mins. to the airport and very comfortable.

CONS: A bit more attention to detail could have been given to the rooms. Ours in particular (on the 5th-floor club lounge level, no less) had stains on the carpet and lots of scratches and marks on the wall.

Also, a bit annoying is the low counter top in the bathroom. The sink is at a normal height, but the counter is below that; so I'd say the counter is maybe at groin-height which made for a lot of bending and straightening.

Lastly, despite the cold weather in March, the rooms themselves were very warm! We had to sleep with the windows open every night, but the VERY early morning commotion outside (lots of construction noise, garbage disposal trucks, etc.) did not contribute to our getting a good night's sleep. We faced the back of the hotel (room # 518) , so perhaps my suggestion would be to get a room facing the street.

Overall, not a bad experience. Just nothing terribly spectacular. The hotel is also not located in the most exciting area of Prague, but there is a large mall nearby and the Andel train station is very close by. I would recommend it, but just don't get your hopes up too high.

“A new Prague angle at Andels”

Andel's Hotel Prague

5 of 5 stars
Newcastle, UK
Mar 25, 2008

A 20 minute car ride into town booked through the hotel was well worth the 700Czk for an easy no hassle arrival from the airport.

Lobby was bright modern clean and airy. Check in was swift and easy on a Wednesday at 9pm.

3 modern lifts (elevators) meant we never waited more than 30 seconds for one.

Room was pretty much faultless, again nice and clean and airy.

Funny set up for toilet/shower I thought, they are both enclosed in glass cubicles so I guess one can go to the loo when someone is in the shower.

Bathroom was nicely tiled with a heated floor, hairdryer, super powerfull shower and decent shaving/vanity mirror.

Bed was a large kingsize, quite firm but comfy, safe and mini-bar in all rooms as well.

1 word of warning though a 330ml bottle of water was 110Czk !! This is a complete and utter tourist rip-off, beer was cheaper!!

Location is brilliant, you've got Andel Metro station and at least 10 trams that stop around the corner from the hotel. Walking into the centre of Prague (Wencelas Square area) over the river will take you 20-30 mins, a tram will take 10mins.
There's plenty of decent cafe's bars and restaurants in the Andel area after your day sightseeing in town, why go back into the centre to be ripped off when there's more on offer here?
An excellent option is the Staropramen Brewery restaurant about a 10 minute stroll away or 1 stop on a 2 minute tram hop.

The Andel Metro is also only 1 stop away from Praha Smichov railway station, much less crowded than Praha main station and all the trains towards Pilzen stop here.
A great day out option that we did was to get a train to Pilzen which is about 1 and a half hours away (1st class return about 400Czk). Go and visit the Pilsner Urquell Brewery, the tour knocks the socks off the Staropramen tour. It lasts 90 mins and you get to see the bottling plant and tour the old cellars and get to taste the old style Urquel tapped from a barrell. Pilzen town square buildings can rival anything Prague has to offer.

I've stayed in Prague twice before, both times in the more 'central' parts. Now I wouldn't stop anywhere else apart from the Andel area because of its great facilities and transport links.

I paid around £80 a night B&B over the easter period, well worth the rate for the quality of the accomodation. Just dont drink the mini-bar water !

    • Disliked — Price of mini-bar water is a rip off.

“New, modern, a perfect location for staying in Prague”

Andel's Hotel Prague

Mar 24, 2008

A perfect place to stay in Prague if you're looking for a brand new hotel, in an area just 3 stops outside the city centre, but not in the real tourist mess of Charles Bridge and nearby streets. It's a perfect match if you want a new hotel, new furniture, contemporary style interior design. I recommend it. We've stayed here for 4 days, we're a 30 something couple in Prague for tourism. Around the hotel you can find all you need, many restaurants and pubs, take aways, a mini market open nighttime, a big department store and cinemas (in Check of course!). The subway is just at 2' walking distances, in less than 10' you will be wherever you want in Prague. Wonderful city, great hotel.
