“Decent hotel good value, will visit again”

We have just returned from pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was clean, including the bathroom. The hotel bar is good, and there are plenty of open lounges throughout the hotel. We did not use the hotel restuarant, but the buffet breakfast is good, with plenty of choice, meats, cheese, eggs and cereals.

The hotel has a good pool and gym facilities, and it is around 10 minutes from the castle on the tram, with a ticket machine right outside the hotel front door.

The italian pizza restuarant accros the road is very good and very value. Tip - avoid the tourist places and eat at local bars/restuarants, it will be half the price.

All in all a good place to stay, we will certainly add it to our "visit again" list.

My husband and I had the misfortune to stay at the Pyramida for 5 nights. I had booked a superior room online for a great price (now I know why) at this allegedly 4* hotel. For starters our room was far from superior and felt more like a cell with a peephole and chain on the door! The decor was very dated throughout the hotel. I had requested a non smoking room but our room had an ashtray and had obviously been smoked in. The bedsheets had a stain on them which I unfortunately discovered the next day. We heaped the bedclothes to be changed on the bed only to find when we came back that night, that the bed had been remade with the same dirty sheets The towels were dried but not cleaned which was apparant from the stains on them. Our sheets were changed once during our stay and our towels once for clean ones. Our bathroom appeared clean but don't expect any fancy toiletries. The shower head was cracked and the plastic toilet seat needed replaced as it too was stained.

The reception staff were abrupt and left you standing waiting for ages before they acknowledged you. We had to ask for the key to the safe/minibar and they wanted a copy of our credit card for the privilege. The kettle provided in our room was covered in dust and useless as there were no cups or tea or coffee provided.

I requested an iron to be told that the hotel didn't provide them but would iron your clothes for a fee per item. It was cheaper to buy an iron use it, albeit illicitly, then pass it on to a passerby as we left the hotel. Breakfast was the only saving grace as there was plenty of choice some of it quite unusual. I don't know anyone who eats chicken wings and soup for breakfast. Be warned there is a VIP area where the average guest cannot stray as it is patrolled during breakfast time.

The lounge was smoky and like a throwback from the eighties mirrored ceiling and everything. The location of the hotel was ok near the castle and a tramstop. The restaurants near the castle were very good: we didn't eat in the hotel apart from our inclusive breakfast. We had the priviege to stay in a lovely hotel in Buchlovice so I know that this type of accomodation is not typical of the Czech Republic. Perhaps a stag weekend wouldn't mind too much at the state of the hotel-but any discerning traveller should give this hotel a wide berth.

“okay but too far out”

Hotel Pyramida

A group of 62 of us stayed here. I had a single room which had one single bed. For 4 days the maid only changed my towels & maybe cleaned the bathroom. My closet rod was broken when I arrived & remained so for all of my stay. There are no drawers, just shelves in the closet.

No one at reception really spoke English. The girl even circled the wrong place on the city map to locate the hotel. She also did not know that St. Vitus's Cathedral at the Prague Castle was the closest Catholic church. (Mass every hour on Sunday morning.)

There were not enough elevators. There is a mini-bar, safe, and hairdryer in each room.

There is a tram line outside the hotel which takes about 20 minutes to go downtown. One can walk to the Prague Castle in about 10 minutes and that compound of shops, restaurants, churches & historic buildings is a great area to hang out.

“Perfect Valentines”

My boyfriend booked the holiday as a Valentines present for us both. I was so excitied when he showed me the pictures of where we would be staying. Upon arriving I was in awe of the building. I couldn't believe as we pulled up the brilliant and unusual shape of the building.

Check In was very easy and found our room very quickly. As we arrived mid evening we decided to go to the bar for a drink before bed. The staff were once again friendly and served us very quickly.

Breakfast wasn't too great and so we had very little and decided not to eat there again. Before leaving the hotel for the day, we asked staff how to get to the centre and they were very helpful in providing a map and directions. On the walk down the MASSIVE hill the sights were unbelievable!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing, on a frosty February morning! It was magaical and very romantic. We continued down finding traditional sights and shops a long the way. We spent the day in Prague and had a great day. However, when faced with the walk back up the hill it was very daunting. But we stopped at the ice cream shop half way up and YUM YUM!

We decided to eat out at one of the local restaurants and taste some czech food, and once again we loved every minute.

The weekend continued this way and we were very pleased. the room was fine for us and after a long day it was brilliant to fall asleep in. we didnt have a bath but that was a very minor issue!!

I would definately return to Prague and the Pryamida!!

“Great value for your $$”

Hotel Pyramida

Jul 14, 2007

Great hotel for tourists visiting Prague. Very close to the Prague castle, this hotel is away from the touristy main and overpriced areas yet this is a posh part of town for locals so you get peace and a lot of green around you.

Rooms are just fine, not huge but comfortbale. There are no coffee/tea making facilities which is pretty standard in Prague hotels (they didn't have them at other 5* hotels there either) so if you like your bedtime cup of tea bring your own.

It's only 20 minuts into town by a direct tram ride which offers amazing panorama of this great city.

Buffet breakfast is generally included in your stay and it's a good value. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby.

The pool and gym arrangement is a bit of a fiasco though as it is privately owned and you have to pay to enjoy the facilities. Not to mention that the sauna is shared by both men and women and I was the only one wearing a swimming costume when I walked in - yes I ran miles and would never go back.

The hotel staff are friendly and nothing seems too much effort - which is more of a rarity in this part of the world.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel for a business traveller but it's a great find for tourists who need clean accommodation without the frills.
