I stayed here twice. The rooms are adequate but the complimentary mini-bar is alluring for a lazy traveler like me. The location is good as there's a tram stop in front of the hotel and also you can get to the castle on foot. Not all but some staff are very friendly which makes you feel at home. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I might come back again.

“Best Hotel I've Ever Stayed In!”

Savoy Hotel

We have just returned from a romantic break in Prague where we stayed in the Savoy from 2nd-4th March. What can I say...it was fantastic!

We ordered the hotel car to pick us up - 790 czk (about £22) and I have to say even though it was nice having someone waiting for us at the gate, it wasn't worth it. The hotel car was not that impressive - an old mercedes by English standards and the journey is only ten minutes. You can get a taxi for half the price (just ring AAA taxis who are reputable).

Upon arriving at the hotel a bellboy jumped to open my door of the car and welcolmed us very enthusiastically. Check in was extremely efficient also. We were directed to our room, 602 which I believe was an upgrade, and the bell boy followed with our luggage within 5 minutes. The reception was very helpful at all times later on when we needed something for our room or information about transport etc.

The room - it was fantastic in every way. Beautifully decorated with a huge marble bathroom and seperate toilet, entrance hall, and living area in the bedroom. We arrived to a welcome note and a pastry platter. We were just admiring the bed (the COMFIEST pillows in the world by the way I have never felt anything like it and would have bought them if I could!) when our doorbell rang. When answered a room service lady came in with a cake complete with candle followed by a bottle of champagne, just because it was my boyfriend's birthday! We were amazed at their attention to detail and consideration. There was music which could be turned on with speakers in all rooms including the toilet which had its own volume switch! Free minibar which got refilled every morning - very impressive.

Breakfast. There are no words to describe how good this was. A little tip - do not go down into the restaurant to eat it, have them bring it up to you. There is no charge for this and you get to pick everything you want off a menu, and the portions are HUGE! When the list says indicate quantity we took this literally, and ordered for example 2 sausages 2 bacon etc. We found out in the morning that this meant SERVINGS and we ended up with 10 sausages and about a pack of bacon each! Very very good quality though I have never had a better breakfast.

The area around the hotel is quite quiet at night, but this may have just been because we arrived on a sunday. Anyway if you are at a loss for where to go and its too late to go into the centre, walk towards the castle (left out of the hotel then left again) and then down the ramp next to the castle and go to Cowboys. Very good steaks and cocktails.

To get into the centre we just bought tickets at the hotel reception, and jumped on a 22 or 23 tram on the hotel side of the road and it takes about 10 minutes - get off after you cross the river and you will be right near Wencelas Square (which is actually a long road not a square!) We walked into the centre once without even meaning to - went to the castle then stopped in Cowboys then before we knew it we had reached Charles bridge - would only take 20 minutes if you walked straight there. We found a very nice italien restaurant - La Scala just off Old Town square on the side opposite the Astronomical Clock.

The hotel restaurant was very nice indeed. We were served like kings, given beef carpaccio as a complimentary course before starter and the food was very very good. We even had two waiters on each course bring out our food under silver domes and wait until they had both put them down, after which they would reveal it simultaneously. Very dramatic but a nice touch - you felt like you were very valued. We did not try the bar.

Following on from what I said earlier we decided to get a taxi back to the airport rather than the hotel car but when we told the concierge this she lowered the price of the hotel car considerably so we just took the offer.

Prague itself is beautiful, the castle is a must. I wont go into the sights we saw as this is really a review of the Savoy. All in all I would honeslty say this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in, especially in terms of the way they treat you and look after you like you are royalty. What makes it special is all the little extra touches that they think of that I have never experienced anywhere else.

“Loved this hotel”

We have just returned from a four night stay at The Savoy over New Year and we had a fantastic time. As you would expect, since The Savoy is a member of "Leading Small Hotels of The World", the service was excellent. The staff were all helpful and friendly and I would add that we received good service in Prague in general - I was expecting a less than friendly response because of some of the comments I've read on TA but our experience was a positive one. The Savoy was immaculately clean.
Our room (602) was quite large, comfortable and warm and the bathroom was spacious and well equipped. Slippers and bathrobes were provided. There was champagne, fruit and an in our room on arrival, a fridge (stocked with a couple of beers, small bottles of wine and soft drinks - these were complimentary and were replaced daily. There's a TV, DVD player and four phones (why?!). The one thing missing was a kettle - this girl finds it hard to function without a coffee in the mornings. However, you could have breakfast in your room at no extra charge.
The buffet breakfasts were very good - lots of choice and there were also freshly prepared dishes if you wanted. We did have the welcome menu on the first night and that was excellent. Also, we went to the New Year's Eve Gala DInner as it was included in our rate and that was impressive - loads of canapes, oysters and sparking wine. I was full before I started on the six course dinner and then there was a buffet after midnight! We did have a few drinks in the bar sometimes on other nights but it's obviously cheaper to eat and drink outside of the hotel.
We liked the location of The Savoy - up near the castle. It was much nicer than the area around Wenceslas Square, which was a bit "seedy" really but interesting nonetheless. The 22 and 23 trams stop right outside the hotel and that's a useful route to be on. We used the hotel's car to collect us from and drop us back at the airport - about £20 each way and well worth it.
Overall, we thought The Savoy was really good value and we would recommend it.

“Amazing Hotel”

Savoy Hotel

Where do I start? Having travelled to Prague on previous occassions - my Mother and I were looking to celebrate her Retirement in style, and style is exactly what we got! :)

The booking was made via a website, that offered sustancial reductions to that of the hotel. I contacted the concierge to arrange a Mercedes Airport Transfer from the airport - which was 790 czk, and worth ever penny! Sheer class and comfort direct to the hotel - that is located in the Hradcany District. Please note that the hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the Castle Distict - and quite a steep walk from Charles Bridge back to the hotel. Tram Number 22 stops directly outside the hotel, and runs frequently. However, you are able to ask the concierge to book you a local taxi that are much cheaper than the hotel cars. (Ask for AAA Cars or something similar)

Now on to our room - which was 803 and offered superb space, and a seperate toilet to the bathroom. The Queen size bed was great with wonderful pillows. There is a dvd in all rooms so remember to take some dvds with you, as they are expensive to hire from Reception. We made use of breakfast in our hotel ever morning - and it was wondefully presented each morning.

I must pay special commendation to Tanja Drogrova (Not too sure if that is her correct surname) She was wonderful - and very efficient from the start to finish of our visit. The Concierge helped us to make a Reservation at Kampa Park - where we had a superb views of Charles Bridge. After our meal we were offered a free BMW ride back to the Savoy! A perfect end to a perfect evening.

When visiting Strahov Monestry which is accross the road from the Savoy - we went to eat at Peklo (Means Hell) in the cellar of Strahov Monestry, The food was very good here - and cost 350 CZK for 2 dishes each and some drinks... So very reasonable.

I would recommend this hotel for a romantic trip or a quiet get away!

“Very fine hotel”

Savoy Hotel

We had a delightful three night stay at the Savoy via an auction on the Luxury Link website, [--]. Our "junior suite" was a true suite, with a bedroom, a living room and a foyer. The accomodation wasexcellent in all respects. One pleasant feature was a W/C separate from the marbled bathroom. Our package included a dinner at the hotel restaurant and buffet breakfasts, both of which were very satisfactory.

The staff was most friendly and efficient. We were provided champagne --a bottle, not a glass-- on arrival and water, soft drinks, juices, etc., in the mini-bar were complimentary. Our package included free public transportation and admission to sights of interest in the city throughout our stay.

The hotel is located in the castle area, away from the throngs, but just a ten minute trip by trams which stop right outside the front door. Public transportation in Prague is efficient, rapid and safe. Use it and apply your savings to your choice of hotel.

While we secured our reservation through an auction, our bid was based on a careful examination of alternative reservation possibilities. Whatever the reservation basis, we are satisfied that the Savoy offers fine accommodation and real value. We recommend it highly.
