We are locals and had a birthday party for our little "Princess" (yeah, right..) and about a dozen of her little "Princess" mates..(ditto) at the Zoo in late October.
While the admissions people are happy to take bulk money/entry fees, that's about the limit of the interaction from them. Considering we brought about half the total number of visitors on the day, it was a bit disappointing to be let loose with the "herd" to determine how much discomfort the poor incarcerates could endure.
The kids with us headed off in all directions, and no amount of threatening behavior could round them up all at once, and not a keeper/attendant to be seen. It might have been a big ask to expect some support from the staff at the time, and even I went in search of somewhere to hide/sneak a quiet ale or two into me, but the occasional uniformed presence may just have had some impact on the random wanderings of the kids in tow.
Show times are too far apart, and without being too harsh, the kids can look at animals for a total of 20-30 seconds, and then want to move on..unless the animals start behaving erratically/anti-socially..Then they have the kids complete attention..but on that particular day, the animals were totally bored by the whole concept, and just wanted to eat/sleep/crap ad infinitum, and in no specific order.
More interaction from keepers might just make this a more worthy venue...for the kids, anyway.
Otherwise, some great photo opportunities, and a nice layout for a small zoo...but not enough to keep the kids focused/attentive.
Cheers,
Rick
