we stayed here after reading alot of reviews on this and other boards. Very nice people, lovely beach -literally a stones throw from your cabin- great restaurants everywhere. Idyllic town. Almost no Americans, or English spoken anywhere.I would highly recommend Casa NIna to anyone looking for an off- the beaten track low-key European B and B. As is the majority of the tourist part of Las Terrenas, it is owned and run by the French.
Expect to meet and speak alot of French in this little town.A couple of pointers we learned: 1-almost no one in the town accepts credit cards 2- most people will gladly exchange money for you at the current rate, or accept dollars or Euros 3- Getting there: It is a 3hr ride from Santiago airport to get to Las Terrenas. You would think there was a bus service to get to the town; we could not find it. The only way to get there is to have your hotel pick you up ( they will gladly comply.) There are most likely more transportation options to the area if you fly into Santo Domingo, although that is farther from Las Terrenas. 4- You can easily have the whole beach to yourselves! (we went in March)
