“Loved it, amazing restaurant”

For those of you daring enough and lucky enough to make it to the Samana Peninsula, you can choose to stay in the town of Las Terennas or on Playa Bonita which is where Acaya Hotel is. Las Terennas is very noisy but beautiful near the water. Hotel Acaya is located on a remote beach just a 5 minute drive from Las Terennas. The french chef at their hotel is amazing and you will eat incredible meals accompanied by a great wine selection.

We are so in love with Samana that we are buying land there.

The hotel is more like a bed and breakfast. The kindness of the staff is fantastic. We travel extensively and this is the most relaxing and reasonable priced stay. You are lulled to sleep by the waves and awaken to the sound of the waves as well.

There was no television or phone in our room. No crowds or heavy traffic.,, the miles of beach the first week of Nov. are for the most part secluded. We walke the deserted beach for miles to the ?Wyndam AI?

The best part is the French restaurant and cocktails. We never had dinner anywhere else for 7 days.... the menu was extensive and unbelievably good no it was superb. You may think this insane for the Dominican but I had enough faith and tried and loved the steak tartar.

“LOVED THIS PLACE!!!”

My boyfriend and I stayed here and could not get enough of the beach, hotel and staff. We had been considering staying at the Hotel Atlantis which our guide book recommended, but got a much warmer reception at Hotel Acaya and chose to stay there, instead. Tucked away from noisy Las Terranas and much more private, it was clean, very safe, cute, with spacious rooms, a/c, and great decks and balconies, and had great atmosphere. Every member of the staff was amazingly nice and helpful, and the food was excellent. They spent hours on the phone for us with local travel agents trying to help us move our flights back so we could stay longer, and when we finally left, they made all taxi and flight arrangements for us to get us back to Punta Cana. The owners spoke several languages (French, Spanish, English) and the hotel is dog-friendly. My boyfriend and I are now considering getting married there! It's off the beaten path, and WORTH IT. I highly recommend staying here and we can't wait to go back!

“Find peace and quiet at Acaya”

Hotel Acaya

We stayed at Acaya for a week last December, after checking out of Las Terrenas due to the noisy motorcycle traffic. Punta Bonita is much quieter than Las Terrenas, and it really is the end of the road. Acaya is a small, simple and clean hotel with balconies overlooking the turquoise sea in front of the hotel. A short walk down the sand road in front of the hotel, to the left brings you to a point with a palm grove, around which are white sand beaches and clear waters for snorkeling. The owner Henri has a pleasant staff, and the food is good. We paid about $35 US a night for a double with a refridgerator and air conditioning (we didn't need the AC most of the time) including the food. It was a very cute room. We would like to come back again.

We rented a car and drove from Santo Domingo. We speak Spanish and found it easy to get around in the country. The drivers are worse in Miami!
