We are very pleased with our stay in InterContinental Wellington simply because it has a very centralized location in Wellington - all within walking distance to restaurants and shopping outlets.

Rooms are pleasant, clean, brightly litted, adequate amenities, comfortable bed, and value for money.

Our only complaint was the car parking fees in which was absolutely exorbitant! Otherwise, this is a good hotel to stay in Wellington, NZ.

I stayed at the hotel for 6 nights on business and was located on the Club floor. The room was fine, very clean and attended to daily. The bathroom had all I needed. My only complaint would be the lack of TV channels. The Club lounge again had everything you could want. The hotel is located in an excellent position in the city and you could walk everywhere. The hotel food was of a good standard, but it was best to eat out.

I would have no issues recommending this hotel to anyone lucky enough to visit NZ.

“Loved the Intercontinental”

Stayed in one of the Club rooms and had a heavenly time. We felt extremely pampered. There were bowls of free apples in the hallways, turn down service, luxurius beds, and (best of all) access to the Club Lounge. Breakfast is served up there (included in room price) as are afternoon tea and cocktails. The views of Wellington harbour are great. The staff are so attentive and professional. Great pool. Spa's a little dingy, but that wasn't our thing anyway. Worth a splurge!

A very nice room on the Club Floor. Excellent continental breakfast, snacks and drinks included in the Club Lounge, which has a great view over Wellington harbour. All hotel staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Good value for money.

There's nothing much wrong with this hotel - it just probably isn't what you would expect from an Intercontinental. As others have mentioned this wouldn't be a five star hotel in most countries.

The rooms are functional, very clean and have very comfortable beds. Hopefully they are due for refurbishment soon as the general decor and furnishings are somewhat dated.

As we were there on Boxing Day we ended up having dinner in the hotel restaurant as Wellington was closed (literally there were few if any restaurants open). As it turned out, the restaurant was very good.

The hotel also more than satisfied the all important criteria of location. The cable car to the botanical gardens and Te Papa (national museum) are both within 5-10 minutes walk.

All in all a good but not excellent hotel that would be a reasonable choice for a short break in Wellington.
