“Unique and Lovely”

The Henry Jones Art Hotel

I spent a weekend recently at this hotel. Having lived in Hobart I was immediately drawn to its location on the waterfrount. Friends had also told me that the hotel was unique in design.

The beauty of this hotel lies in the fact that it is built into the original IXL Jam Factory warehouses. In doing so they have totally exploited the industrial feel and it works perfectly. Exposed beams in the rooms and unfinished brick work in the corridors and public spaces.

There is great attention to detail in the interior design of this hotel and it has a truly contemporary Tasmanian feel about it. The bathroom's are especially nice with nothing but a frosted glass wall seperating the wet area from the bedroom. No room for being too prim here if you know what I mean.

The other thing I must make mention of are the staff. Very professional, friendly and knowledgable.

“Night to remember”

The Henry Jones Art Hotel

We chose the Henry Jones Art Hotel for our one-night, fleeting visit to Hobart - and were delighted with our decision!

The hotel is situated right on the harbour - only a short stroll to the Salamanca markets and city centre.

The reception was welcoming and staff were very friendly and helpful.

The spa bedroom was homely and immaculately clean; just perfect for the chilly Hobart evening!

The glass pod bathroom is an interesting feature - but beware if you're shy about your roomie seeing your bathroom regime... although the glass is frosted; you can still see silhouettes whilst using the sink and shower (bath and WC are thankfully discretely tucked away behind a wooden panel); and it can be disconcerting for the person in the bathroom...

That said - the bathroom was beautiful - and the heated floors were a God-send after wandering around chilly Hobart.

Just beware you don't arrive too late at night - all of the restaurants close early and the only room service available after the last flight arrives is the night menu - so enjoy the tasty toasties with a bottle of wine and save up your appetite for a gorgeous brekkie in town instead!

    • Liked — The glass pod bathroom and friendly (if somewhat cheeky) South African bartender...
    • Disliked — Lack of availability of dinner options after arriving on late flight.

“Superb!”

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in February 2006 as part of a romantic five days in Tasmania. After enduring numerous quaint, but not particularly well-equipped, B&Bs (for which Tassie is notorious), this place was an absolute haven. The moment you walk through the doors it is clearly something special - reminiscent of the former W Hotel in Sydney, without the try-hard guests and staff with attitude. Our room was a Deluxe Spa Harbour view - yes, the showers do tend to splash water, but given I wasn't there to clean the bathrooms, who really cares - and was well-appointed. We found every member of the staff was very helpful and the location is outstanding. Given it is in one of Hobart's major dining precincts, we didn't eat in, so I can't comment on the restaurant. To sum up just how superb this hotel is, however, our experience at check-out is most indicative - upon settling our bill, we noticed that a bottle of Veuve Clicquot had been left off the total. When we mentioned this, the front reception staff apologised for their mistake(!) and stated that it was, therefore, complimentary. Now that it something you don't experience often these days, even in a five star... Complimentary French champagne or not, I wouldn't hesitate to stay again at this excellent property. Very highly recommended.

“Perfect Wedding Night”

The Henry Jones Art Hotel

Jun 29, 2007

My husband and I chose this hotel for our wedding night, as we'd heard great reviews and knew it was a new, refurbished, establishment. We enquired directly to reception a few months before our wedding, and told them of the nature of our stay. We were then given a tour of the hotel and shown 4-5 different suites. The customer service was second to none, friendly, and extensive of information.
Upon arrival just after midnight on our wedding night, we were greeted by friendly staff who congratulated us, and then shown to our room. Upon entering, we found a letter from the manager wishing us a wonderful new life as a married couple, and given a gorgeous bottle of champers.
Their rooms are immaculate, the bathroom, complete with loads of glass are highly in trend, and lavish. Not to mention the "over flowing" spas in room! WOW! Just beautiful! King size beds, Austar TV, mini bar, robes, toiletries galore! Who cares if a bottle of water might cost $3?! Best ever $3 I spent after a gorgeous, out of brreath wedding night!!
I highly reccommend this hotel to anyone who comes to Hobart. Its waterfront/warf location is a tourist attraction in itself, and puts you right amongst other attractions such as The Warf, Museum, The Elizabeth St Mall, Salamanca, and Mnt Wellington.
Do not hesitate to book here!!

“Amazing place to stay”

The Henry Jones Art Hotel

Visited Hobart for our anniversary and stayed here. The hotel was pricy but even better than we expected. Everything about the place was wonderful from the fittings in the room and bathroom to the art on the walls. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here and we really felt spoiled to be surrounded by such contempary luxury. Staff don't bother you unless you want them to, view was excellent, location on the harbour definitely romantic!
I am asthmatic and highly allergic but didn' t have any problems with this hotel as it is meticulously clean and maintained.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as the place to stay for your first trip to Hobart if you can afford the rates!
You won't be disappointed.
