The house was lovely the rooms quite nice. We booked the B&B having read Tripadvisor recommendation and weren't disappointed. The location is perfect - just a short walk through Botanical Gardens to city centre. The staff (particularly Vanessa) were very helpful.
Not a first class hotel but certainly very good value for money B&B in expensive city.
Only slight problem for us, admittedly VERY light sleepers, was there was some traffic noise - which could be remedied by secondary double glazing - obviously you wouldn't want to change the original, beautiful windows.
Definitely recommend to anyone visiting Sydney.
Agree with earlier reviewer that Lilianfels is wonderful but don't forget it's more than twice the price of Simpsons.

From my first enquiry email (booking a room) through to our early morning departure at the end of our stay, Keith, Marie & Vanessa gave us friendly service and advice to cram as much as possible into our 4 days of "exploring Sydney". The hotel is beautifully restored and a welcome departure from the modern purpose- built, big chain clones. Our king-sized room at the back of the hotel was comfortable and bright, with writing table, sofa, and provision for tea and coffee making. The ensuite was small but spotless, the room quiet, and the staff unobstrusively helpful. Free internet access was available in the downstairs lounge/reading room 24/7. A delightful stay and a definite "will return".

Our experience varies from previous guests due to the fact that we are Sydney siders. Our overnight stay was acquired through a Breast Cancer fund raiser, that the owners of "the Simpsons" very kindly donated to. Even though we were not "paying customers" so to speak, we were welcomed with the same warmth and sincerity. This was to be a special weekend for us as we were celebrating birthdays and unbeknown to the hosts, I myself had recently undergone cancer treatment. We were not disappointed. The room, diningroom, lounge etc. all kept in the hotel's historical period had a lovely ambiance and was kept very clean. It is located close to great restaurants and just a short walk away from the most beautiful harbour in the world. Even friends that we had dined with were so impressed that they intend staying next time they are in town. If you're looking for great accommodation, you can find it anywhere in a number of lovely places all over Sydney.....but they would not have that special touch that makes "the Simpsons" unique. Thank you to everyone at the Simpsons for leaving us with a wonderful memory of a very special weekend.

We stayed at Simpsons of Potts Point in early February. This charming hotel is in perfect condition with beautiful woodwork and stained glass windows. The bedrooms are spacious and clean and the communal areas are comfortable and contain a number of travel guides and a computer with free Internet access. Both Vanessa & Keith, the hotel managers, were extremely helpful recommending various sites to visit in and around Sydney and assisting us with booking both dinner and day-spa reservations.

For those who haven't been to Sydney before, this hotel is only a short walk away from the Botanical Gardens and the famous Rocks district. So if you are looking for charming hotel near the top tourist destinations in Sydney, we would highly recommend Simpsons of Potts Point!
