We stayed at the York apartments for 2 nights - 15th and 16th Feb 2008. We had a 2 bedroomed apartment with 2 bathrooms, laundry facilities complete with washing machine and tumble dryer - which was a great help! The bedrooms were comfortable - a large master bedroom with 2 large double wardrobes with plenty of hangers, a built in safe and the bed was comfy too! The ensuite was well equipped with a nice large shower that worked well - not just a dribble of water! Both bathrooms came complete with the usual shampoo and shower gel, nice thick flannels and large clean towels.
The 2nd bedroom had twin beds and equally as comfortable.
The staff - especially the porter - Micha I think his name was, was extremely hellpful in every way, as were all the reception staff.
The kitchen was well equipped with all cutlery and cockery for up to 6 pax, a large fridge, electric hob, microwave (I think it had) and a welcome pack consisting of water, a small carton of milk (I think) sugar etc... . In the kitchen there was a sliding french door onto a huge balcony which housed a table and 4 chairs. From the master bedroom there was another huge balcony complete with BBQ facilities which we didn't get a chance to use. The lounge too was large with a few sofas, tv, phone , and a lovely dining table large enough for a dinner party! The decor overall was a bit 70's and dated in cream and brown colours- but that didn't matter at all.
We were on the 22nd floor - eek!! see photos!
I have to say that our apartment was excellent in every way, close to all the sights - bridge, opera house, the Rocks etc and can highly recommend it for a few days (or longer) whilst in Sydney - be it for business or pleasure.
The only slight negative was the fact that all cooking pots and frying pan were stainless steel, not good for frying or scrambled eggs! Washing up facilities were minimal, but the water was always hot! I cannot fault it!
The rates too were reasonable

Mty partner and I stayed twice in November 07 - at the beginning of our visit to Australia, and again a the end - a total of 10 nights in the York. Everything was faultless and truly outstanding. On our return for our second visit we were given a penthouse apartment with terraces on two sides - fabulous!!

No prizes for guessing where we will be staying on our next visit to Sydney.

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of a 3 week tour of Australia and thought it fantastic! We were in room 909, a deluxe studio on the 9th floor. Were a little disappointed at first not to be higher (I think the apartments are on the higher floors) but the view we had was great - could see the AMP tower. A little noisy on the balcony, but you expect that in a city, We spent quite a lot of time out there. Inside was beautiful, clean, modern and spacious with full kitchen, bath and seperate shower and washer and dryer - a godsend! We even used the pool and hot tub, no-one else there! Location - 10 mins walk to the Rocks and Circular Quay, 15 mins to Darling Harbour - easy. Good, cheap noodle bar round the corner. Staff very helpful. Our flight home was in the evening - staff stored our luggage and we were able to use the showers by the pool - towels provided, which was great - didn`t feel like we had nowhere to go! Would definitely stay there again given the chance.

Hidden gem for long term stay in Sydney CBD. For business, I've spent many 2-3 week stays in the CBD and the York was the fifth place I've tried.. and where I'll stay from now on. Location is great, a block from the Wynward CityRail station. The staff is nice and willing to accomidate any request. They now offer broadband wireless internet at the very reasonable rate of $50 AUD/week. As long as you are on the 8th floor or above, street noise as mentioned in other reviews isn't any more than a typical urban city. Full kitchen and laundry en suite. Housekeeping efficent. VERY NICE BALCONIES, even pleasent during the winter on sunny days. Would recommend.
