“Good Hotel; Fair Location”

Travelodge Sydney

4 of 5 stars
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

While all the reviews seem to give this hotel a horrible rating, my wife and I really enjoyed it. We stayed at the hotel for three days. In our opinion, we would rank this hotel similar to a Best Western or Holiday Inn Express (Without the 'free' breakfast). There is no such thing as a 'free breakfast' in Sydney. A cup of coffee will cost you anywhere from $2.50-$3.50. Do not believe all the negative reviews. They are FAR from the truth.

When we arrived, around 11 AM, we were informed that our room would not be ready until after lunchtime (2 PM). They offered to hold our luggage and check it in should we wish to go find something to eat. Since we were obviously tired, we choose to sit in the hotel lobby for a few minutes. We were quickly greeted by the front desk staff who informed us our room was ready. They also stated they would give us a room on the top floor that would be quieter and less crowded from traveling groups.

A few things to keep in mind when staying at this location:

1. You are south of all the attractions, but within walking distance of everything.
2. Try to stay on the top floor of the hotel (we stayed on 18) as it seemed to be less noisy than the other floors.
3. Internet is much cheaper just a few blocks away at place called “Internet Everywhere”. It has an orange sign and was suggested by the hotel staff. For $2, you can get a full hour rather than 20 minutes for the same price in the hotel lobby.
4. The breakfast is NOT included in the Travellodge rate. If you want a hot breakfast, be prepared for a $17/person rate. If you can get it included in your rate...do so...it is a fairly nice breakfast!
5. Travellodges frequently, in Australia, host larger groups. This means that when you book a room, you want to make SURE you communicate with the front desk to not be on those floors. This will get you in a better part of the hotel and you will enjoy it more.

PROS
- Good Location (If you are able to walk)
- Safe Location (Police Station Sits Right Beside Hotel)
- Friendly Front Desk Staff
- Excellent Hot Breakfast

CONS
- Elevator Was Sometimes Slow; Especially During "Peak" Times (8 AM & 5 PM)

“A Week at the Travelodge”

Travelodge Sydney

4 of 5 stars
Melbourne, Australia
Jun 30, 2008

I stayed at the Travelodge for 8 nights in early June and couldn't fault it! The room was lovely and very spacious (room no.1606), with a good view out over the roof tops. Location wise, it was a short walk to anywhere with a great pub with excellent Thai food directly across the road; Hyde park one block up, and all that Oxford St has to offer less than a minute's walk away. We also walked to Central station every day (less than 5 minutes and Museam station is closer if you prefer), found Coles supermarket a couple of blocks away for all our supplies, and Chinatown about 10 mins walk away. It is a bit of a walk down to Circular Quay, Opera house etc, but Darling Harbour is very close by.
There were a lot of tour groups staying here, and at times they were very noisy and crowded the lobby area. But not enough to bother about.
Having a microwave was fantastic to self-cater. Wish they supplied a toaster too! The room was cleaned and towels replaced every day. The Queen bed was very confortable (and I'm pretty fussy with beds and pillows). Not to mention the very friendly and helpful staff - they couldn't help enough.
Sure, it's a 3.5 star hotel, and as such doesn't have those extras like mini bar, room service etc. But if you want those, you would pay double or more for a room, and they are not important to me.
I will be staying there the next time I'm in Sydney for sure!

“Good Location and Value for Money”

Travelodge Sydney

4 of 5 stars
Warrington, UK

Was lucky to find this hotel, got a really good deal. It was just like the travelodges in the UK, basic, clean and you know what you are getting. About a 15 brisk walk to darling harbour.

Would stay again

“Great hotel”

Travelodge Sydney

Jun 22, 2008

This hotel was great value for money. Much like UK Travelodges the hotels was no frills but clean and tidy with a good size room and bathroom. There was also a microwave, good size fridge and dishes that allowed for basic catering. Also there was a iron and ironing board, as well as all other comforts that you'd expect in a hotel room.
The hotel was a 10 minute walk from Central station and a 25 minute walk to Circular Quay. All the main attractions were in easy walking distance. We would definately stay here again.

“This hotel ok but”

Travelodge Sydney

Jun 8, 2008

This hotel in the Edge of C B D district of Sydney.Well placed .But the hotel has problems the room was ok had small fridge and micowave oven and one small Chest Of Drawers with 2 Drawers and one wardrobe ok for short stay but if staying over a week then not enough room. The carpet in the room was quite stained and never semed to be cleaned the room did have a maid that did ok (allways clean towls emptyed bins did the bed ect ) but did not seem to clean the carpet. All so the toilet roll holder was near enough off the wall no one seemed to care and left it as it was the shower was poor you had to put a towel on the floor as it was all on one level so the water world go every where without the towl . The lift you had to use your room key in to go up to your room this seemed to be a hit and miss thing did not matter how slow or fast you pasted the key sometimes it did no work and you spend 5 to 10 minutes trying to get it to work. The staff where ok but I think do need a bit of training. If you looking for top rate hotel with everything perfect look else where. But if you looking for A quite cheap hotel .Where you can sleep and spend more time doing othe things seeing the sites ect. Then this hotel passes the test

Here A few tips that I hope will help if you decided to stay here

Getting to Darling Harbour from hotel Walk along Wentworth Avenue to Elizabeth street then along Elizabeth street to Liverpool street .If you walk along liverpool street into the centre of Town then if you carry on along Liverpool street you will be in Darling Harbour.

I know there are other ways to get to Darling Harbour this is just one from the hotel

TIP

Woolwoths is on Park street to get here Walk along Wentworth Avenue to Elizabeth street then along Elizabeth street Park st is the 3rd or 4fh street off Elizabeth street

Hope these help some of you
