We stayed 3 nights at the Rendezvous Stafford and were very satisfied with the location and room. We were touring Sydney for only 2 days and at the end of a 2 week trip so, we wanted a hotel near the downtown sites.

The location was perfect. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Opera House, and Walsh Bay wharf were within a 1.5 mile radius of the hotel. We found many places to eat near the hotel, including a cafe for coffee and pastry or breakfast egg sandwich just steps from the hotel entrance.

We requested a room with 2 twin beds and private bath. A view of the harbor was not important to us. The room was spacious enough for us to leave our suitcases open on the floor. It included a kitchen and dining table, which we used to keep some wine cold and to eat take-away Chinese on our last night.

We paid AU$800 for 3 nights double occupancy with a view of the alley behind the hotel. Had read some reviews which complained about street noise; all was quiet during our stay.

Lovely area in the rocks, reception deceives you, very friendly staff but then you get to the rooms and it looks like it hasn't been refurbished since 1960! Awful itchy sheets, old kitchenette and old old bathroom. It was clean but really should be 2-3* and no more.

While we didn't pay for the harbour view rooms, my wife and I still really enjoyed our stay at the Rendezvous at the Rocks. Our room was very comfortable, and for only a small hotel it has some great facilities, like the heated pool.
It's so central to everthing that we wanted to do in Sydney, especially the bridge climb (do the sunrise session! amazing!).
We read trip advisor before going to the hotel, and these issues that some people have had with service seem to have been sorted out, as the service was fantastic. They're very down to earth and friendly.
Next time however, I will be paying the extra money for a harbour view and nab one of the balcony rooms!

This motel was not as it seemed on their website. As previous reviews have indicated, the girl on reception is a rude and patronising individual. She was trying to teach a younger girl how to use the computer and was showing no joy in doing it and to display this type of displeasure in front of clients is in my opinion not acceptable.I felt really sorry for the younger girl. Also the rooms are nice but for what you pay not really good enough. There are no balconys and there is no rooftop so don't be fooled. You can not see the Opera House or The Rocks from the motel. My fiance took me here for a birthday gift while we were seeing a show at the Opera House and we were both pretty annoyed that it was not what is appears on the website (and having a nasty girl on reception does not help). As also indicated by a previous review, we also had trouble with the parking, we went back and forth from motel to car park to sort out tickets etc. Just really bad management.
