“One of the best hotels I've stayed at”

The Observatory Hotel

I was pleasantly surprised, given the unevenness of the reviews, but also because I rarely find a hotel to be so good, that this was one the best hotels at which I’ve stayed, especially recently. The reception was professional and welcoming, the concierges knowledgeable, eager to help, and very personable, and the Galileo restaurant excellent. Overall the service was great. The room, a deluxe with water view, was spacious, well appointed, and I would say luxurious. It does lack the panache of say the Meurice or the St. Regis, for example, but is very nice. Overall, an excellent hotel, one to which I’d gladly return.

“Simply the best!”

We stayed recently to celebrate our anniversary. I checked various offers & prices on other sites before calling hotel. Although the package I booked was more expensive than what most other 5 star hotels were offering I was convinced after speaking to the hotel that I would not be disappointed in my choice to stay there. I am so glad that we did because it really was "the best". The hotel has a relaxed informality about it compared to some of the big brand names and despite being very busy that weekend they somehow managed to make us feel like we were the only people that mattered. They even knew we were staying for our anniversary at check-in which is something that I must have mentioned when calling. And in our room was a personal welcome card just for the occasion. I really can't remember when I last saw such attention to detail.
We felt so very special and that is something you cannot put a price on.

“No better Concierges”

Comfortable, relaxing, excellent food and service but the two main Concierges took this hotel to top status; nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel has no outside seating area (except over the road by the tennis court) and the bar, although luxurious, lacked atmosphere but these are minor quibbles in the overall five-star picture.

“Lovely hotel”

We stayed at this hotel for New Year, after researching on Tripadvisor and found the service excellent, food on New Years Eve superb and so different from the usual sky scraper, minimalist type hotels you get these days.

Concierge very helpful, not only in recommending where to eat but also producing menu's for relevant restaurants.

If ever had the opportunity to visit Sydney again the Observatory would be first choice.

“Pure attentive luxury!”

I had the pleasure of staying at the Observatory for a business trip to Sydney. Initially, I asked for one of the nicer chain hotels I am familiar with. Thank goodness, co-workers in Sydney alterted me to The Observatory. The moment I entered the hotel after our 14+ hour flight, I was taken care of attentively yet without any snobbery. The hotel is lovely, elegant and personal. The work out room/spa was an oasis. However the best part of my stay was the service. Jerome at the front desk took it upon himself to call Verizon in the US to try to help me get my Blackberry to work internationally. Jerome went above and beyond, as did everyone at the Observatory to make my stay just perfect. I can' t wait to come back, maybe even for a vacation with my family.
Thanks for a great stay.
