“Loud and not so family friendly”

We stayed at 2 Bond Street on a Friday and Saturday night with our baby and toddler. It was extremely noisy at night (due to traffic on George St, nearby bars, pubs and clubs). Would recommend you request a room at the back of the hotel, away from George St. Also, our 2 bedroom suite did not have a bath or laundry tub, so we had nowhere to bath our 6 month old or 2.5 year old sons. There wasn't any toddler friendly food on the room service menu and was advised that they couldn't prepare anything that wasn't on the menu (not even some toast or a simple sandwich). Our room hadn't been serviced properly on arrival. The dishwasher was still full and there was something nasty in the bottom of the bin in the kitchen. There was no dish cloth/sponge in the kitchen and when I requested one, I was given a tea towel. I had to insist on a dish cloth and eventually one arrived. They also messed up our breakfast order (we only received half of it). However they did fix this up promptly and were apologetic. When we arrived they suggested that we unload our hire car in their car park, which we did and then we returned the hire car. They tried to charge us $35 in parking for the short time that we were in the car park. Best to unload your car in Bond St if you want to avoid parking fee.

“Average place to stay, good location”

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks for a business trip. Was booked into an executive suite which was quite comfortable. First was given a room on the 7th floor which was immaculate and very quiet. (excluding the little outside noise that you can hear and live with). Was told the internet connection was included in the room rate unfortunately it wasn't working so they moved me to the 13th floor. This room absolutely stank and was very dusty. Made me wish i didn't complain about the internet connection. Once i logged in I realised they were charging extortionate rate for internet access. Forget it! Even the IT support staff think it should be included. Think the lower floors are kept for business travelers and the upper floor for holiday makers. The upper floors are definitely more used and a little more run down. You get loud groups staying up there who want to party hard at the weekends. The room service menu is very basic and fairly limited, but the location is superb. Only a couple of blocks to circular key (opera house and bridge) and The Rocks. Darling habour takes about 10-15 mins walk. Got the Oz flu whilst I was out there and was really bad one night. No doctors were open so the hotel arranged for a hotel doctor to visit who charged AUD$300 for coming out. Ouch!!!!
Did the Blue Mountains tour with FJ tours. Too much time is spent at other places and only an hour at the blue mountains which has 3 rides to do. You don't really get time to appreciate where you are coz you’re so rushed. I wouldn't recommend these organised tours. If possible take the train out and do it at your own pace. Think there is trolley service that links the mountains and the rail station. Also went out to Manly and climbed the pylon rather than doing the bridge climb. The sydney tower also has fab views but the bridge and opera house are obscured by the high rise buildings.

“Great location, room, crap breakfast”

Saville's delivered on all it's promises except the breakfast which is overpriced $25 and has limited choice - you'd do better going up the road to a cafe.

But that aside, Saville's is great - excellent location, didn't really notice the noise that other's on here have commented on and it's lovely and clean. The Australian phenomena of having a suite is rather odd until you get used to the room, but with your own washing machine and dryer in the bathroom cupboard and also a practically fully equipped kitchen in the room then it suddenly all gets used and you wondered how you'd have managed without it.

So great all in all - would definitely recommend to others and if I'm lucky to go back to Sydney then I'll definitely stay there.

“Poor Service”

Saville 2 Bond Street

I booked an Executive Suite for my recent trip to Sydney as I was quite happy with the room and service when I first visited last year. Unfortunately, my recent stay contradicted my experience in the hotel the year before. First of all, I was made to wait for my room until 2:20pm (check-in is at 2pm) because there was a problem with key cutter, and when I finally got into my room I was a little put off by the muggy stench of the room. I went straight to the balcony to get some air in but when I tried to open both (slimline) doors they were both stuck and wouldn't open at all. And to top it, my view was in fact a brick wall and a half demolished building. Despite my growing annoyance, I then turned on the LCD TV to check out the news, thinking they would have CNN and Bloomberg (as indicated by their site) and all I had access to was Sky and Fox Sport. I specifically returned to this hotel for access to an opening window/door and these business TV channels, so of course I was not happy.
I contacted the front desk and a concierge was sent up to check the door and he too had great difficulty trying to open the balcony doors. He managed one and said I had to open it with some technique. I'm still not sure why maintenance was not contacted by the concierge. To cut a long story short, I eventually cut my Saville stay to one night instead of 3, for the sheer fact that I couldn't stay in a hotel where the service and accomodations are certainly below the 4.5 star standard it claims to be (LCD TV or not). On my departure, reception didn't even bother asking why I was unhappy and moving to another hotel. This, I thought was quite disturbing. At the room rate available at the Saville, you may as well stay at Four Points Sheraton which is only slightly more expensive but well worth it, when you're treated like an actual guest.
