“wonderful!”

The Storrier Hotel

Had a lovely time at the Storrier! -Great location, close to great coffee (Fratelli's-yum!) walking distance to all my favourite Sydney things; Oxford Street and Ariel bookshop, the Gallery of NSW, the Botanic Gardens and the Darlo for a drink. The Hotel is well appointed, the beds are comfy and the staff are warm, friendly and professional with out being overcooked. We stayed in an executive studio, and it was compact but well designed with a perfect little kitchen. Tucked away off the main street it was surprisingly very quiet for such a busy area. Definitely going back to The Storrier.

“Great stay at The Storrier”

The Storrier Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Melbourne
Jun 20, 2008

I recently stayed at The Storrier and found the location fantastic. I was hesitant about staying so close to Kings Cross but I truly couldn't complain about a thing.

After a long day, I checked into my room and it was lovely to have a staff member help me with my bags. The reception staff were very friendly too. Nothing was too much trouble.

I had breakfast every morning at the hotel's restaurant Red Belly and dinner there a couple of times too. The food was fantastic - compliments to the chef.

I had a fantastic nights sleep in what they call 'Serence Sleep Beds' and the room decor was very funky. All in all, a great stay.

“Great..., if you dont want to sleep”

The Storrier Hotel

Jun 9, 2008

The good things about this hotel are that the staff are really friendly and willing to help. The hotel is within walking distance of down town Sydney and just around the corner from the train station. Potts Point/Darlinghuurst also have a lot of good restaurants within walking distance.

Bad things about the hotel
The location is a couple of streets too close to Kings Cross so it is really noisy on the weekend.
The rooms are very small and expensive for Sydney.
The hotel is poorly designed - we could hear the people in the rooms next door everytime they opened and closed their doors - all day and all night.
The bathrooms are tiny and completely impracticle - they are frosted glass so if you use the bathroom in the middle of the night not only will your partner hear everything you do in the bathroom but the bedroom is illuminated by the bathroom lights.

Stay here if you are going to Sydney by yourself mid week - or if you plan to be partying all weekend and dont need to sleep.

I found what I thought was a great deal on this hotel and booked with them directly. They were having problems with their reservation system on line, but I was able to email the reservations desk and make the reservation. I had read so many good reviews about the hotel that I was really looking forward to my visit. I actually liked the location as it is close to many other hotels and restaurants and the Potts Point area is lovely and Kings Cross very interesting. My biggest problem was that the website indicated the rooms 'come with high speed internet access'. I discovered that the rooms have access available but the cost was $10/hour, $20 for 4 hours or $30/day. I did complain to the front desk and they said that they were aware that the website said this but that the internet was provided by an outside server and they had no control over the cost. The cost was added to my bill through the hotel, so I wondered about this. I wrote an email to the hotel while I was there reiterating my objection and did not receive a response. This really coloured my impression of the hotel. I didn't mind so much that the room was very tiny as it was in the back of the hotel and pretty quiet, or that 2 lightbulbs were burned out, or even that the sink was leaking all over the floor, as these issues were addressed immediately. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, in all respects, except for the internet issue. Most hotels do seem to include this free of charge, and I wouldn't have objected if the website did not suggest that it was free. As long as you are prepared for the extra cost and can get a good deal, this is a pretty fair place to stay I reckon, but there are many other hotels in the same area where internet access is free.

“The Storrier is terrific!”

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. We didn't want to leave! From the soft furry blankets to the luxurious bathroom amenities, funky artwork and awesome location, the Storrier has it all. It also has the most lovely porter -- far more friendly than some of the reception staff who seem a little stuck up. We absolutely loved it.

The housekeeping leaves a little to be desired (returning back at 4pm to find rooms not cleaned isn't great) but we did stay quite soon after the hotel opened so hopefully they have worked out these teething problems by now. All in all though, it was wonderful.
