“Sprouts for breakfast?!”

What can I say ? If you want chips every night - this is the place for you! Sprouts and french beans left over from the night before were put in the salad the next day! No choice, but scrambled egg and frankfurters for breakfast every day. The 'free' wine on offer with your evening meal is vile, so don't let this sway your decision to stay there.

Our room had a balcony overlooking the lake, but sitting outside to enjoy the views was practically impossible due to the heavy smokers next door!

The hotel is pretty dated, albeit rooms are clean and a fair size. It's a long walk - all uphill back to the hotel from the centre with steep steps to climb.

Would I go back ? No - there are better hotels for a similar price nearer the centre of Limone.

Lastly, the Receptionists were helpful and friendly.

“The hotel with a view”

Had booked into the Cristina but were upgraded to the San Pietro. Due to the Cristina being closed for the winter break. Very clean room but small. Fantastic views of the lake and mountains. Room very basic but clean with tea/coffee making facility. Restaurant airy and reasonable choice of self serve dishes with free wine and soft drinks. As week went on service and choice of food and drinks in the bar got worse. Staff began the process of closing this hotel down for the Winter break. location not for the faint hearted steep climb back to the hotel from Limone. Suggest you use the hotel minibus. Disappointed that we were not allow to use the indoor swimming pool even after offering to pay. Tip to any future guests avoid staying there during the last week of the summer period. Overall, our stay could have been great but spoited by the closing down activities.

“Very recommendable”

Very beautiful views especially if you have a balcony facing lake garda. Rooms were good with a fridge, electric kettle, television (limited programmes) clean and plenty of room. One problem was the walls are very thin and every noise can be heard, we moved rooms after he second day because of a neighbours excessive snoring. Plenty of choice with the food and wine was available with no extra charge. The Hotel does have a bus service to and from the hotel into to town but it is a very pleasant walk if you are up for it. The area does have stunning views and there are many boat trips along lake garda which are well worth considering. A trip to the dolomites is amazing. Another good trip is to travel to the summit of Mount. Baldo on the other side of the lake. Altogether a very nice place to stay and and appreciate the views. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the area and most locals were friendly.

My wife and I read the reviews on the Cristina before we booked and after a great week can't believe the (minority) negative feedback from some visitors.
Our experiences were all positive.
The Crisitna is a large hotel with ample room for relaxing either on open terraces or within several enclosed lounges. It is in an elevated position with great views over the lake.
Our basic room was still well specified with TV, heating, bidet and ample clean towelling with extra linen, hair drier and cool drinks cabinet. It was also clean and well maintained daily,
The self service restaurant was light and roomy again with great views over the lake. Breakfast whilst typically continental offered plenty of choise, the evening meals were well prepared and as much as you could eat, again with a wide choise for all tastes (typically 2 soups, 8 pasta or meat dishes, vegatables, chips etc 20 salad dishes, 15 puddings) and the menu changed daily with wine or soft drinks free on tap.
The reception staff were friendly, helpful and courteous and spoke excellent English.
In summary, it is an accurately rated 3 star hotel, and excellent value for money.
Thanks to all at Crisitina for a great stay!

“Excellent Holiday”

Hotel Cristina

It was very hard to find any faults with this hotel. As we booked over 12 months in advance, we were upgraded to a superior room. The view from the shared terrace was absolutely breathtaking. The evening buffet was excellent, usually a carvery plus several different meat, pasta and fish dishes. We booked the a la carte restaurant one evening and, although there was no choice of menu and most of the dishes were the same as available on the buffet, it made a nice change to be served by very attentive staff. We counted seven courses in all! The free red wine was absolutely fine but the white was rather too dry and sharp for my liking. I only have one critiscim. As we travelled late in the season we had a couple of rainy days when it was difficult to find things to do. We enquired whether we could use the indoor pool of the adjoining sister hotel but were told we could not. We were however invited to use the facilities at the Leonardo da Vinci Hotel. The manager informed us that it was only an 8 minutes stroll away. It was more like 48 minutes and a very steep climb back up the hill afterwards! It would have been so much more convenient to use the indoor pool on-site. We very much enjoyed the entertainment, particularly a wonderful violinist accompanied by an excellent pianist. The icing on the cake for us was seeing the snow on the mountain tops on our last day. It was hard to believe that just a few days earlier we had been up there in the cable car in beautifully warm sunshine! I would recommmend taking a boat over to Malcesine, a trip into Verona and the walk between Torbole and Riva.
