Having spent 7 days at the Panorama Hotel, fortunately the weather was perfect, which was more than could be said for the hotel. We felt that the 4 star rating of the hotel was rather exaggerated. The rooms were in need of refurbishing, the bathroom was okay but the shower cubicle was too small for comfort. Although there was an airconditioning unit in the room, which was suppose to operate until the 15th September, the cooling was non existent. This also applied to the restaurant area, where one had to sit outside to feel comfortable. The restaurant staff were lacking in personality and were more interested in clearing the tables than looking after the needs of the guests. The layout of the restaurant seemed to be somewhat congested where there was not enough room between tables and some were too close the buffet counter. The quality of the food was fine, but at breakfast we found that portion control was in operation where tea plates were provided to accommodate items from the hot buffet. One good point regarding the evening meal was that free drinks were provided. Anyone interested in using the hotel pool were required to provide their own towels from the bathroom. Although the Limone resort could be reached by a pleasant walk along a well lit pathway in the evening, to reach the footpath from the hotel meant walking 100 yards along the main busy road which was very dangerous due to on-coming traffic. We found the hotel shuttle bus to be very useful, although the bus could only accommodate 8 people and the frequency could be a problem. The reception staff were very helpful. Although the hotel provided excellent views from the rooms over the lake due to its position being so far away from Limone centre, we would think twice about returning.
