Booked a late holiday not knowing which Hotel we would be allocated. Have to admit we usually go 5 star so not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Yes the Hotel was much more geared to the German clientele but we found all the staff friendly and attentive. The food was particularly good and the waiters excellent. The decor is a bit old fashioned but the Hotel was spotlessly clean as was the whole of Limone. It was an excellent spot for independant exploration. It has two wonderful swimming pools but of course in Oct although the weather was warm the pools were too cold to swim in. The one thing we did find odd was there was not a single porter in the Hotel so no chance of help with luggage etc. No problem to us but might have been to anyone with a disability etc. But to us it was worth it's 4 stars and believe you me we are discerning travellers

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Hotel Caravel, Limone. This was a last minute booking and it did not disapoint. The hotel is a little dated, but we could not fault the food, staff and the cleanliness of the hotel. Bar prices were very reasonable as were the measures. The hotel is located just of the main road and the walk back to the hotel after spending time on the lake front taking in the breath taking views and copious amounts of the local tipple could be a little taxing. We had a fantastic holiday and can't wait to return. Limone is beautiful.

Before we set off on our holiday we read 2 reviews of this hotel, the reviews themselves were not very complimentary, we thought the fact that we have had a fabulous weeks holiday in Limone and paramount to this holiday was the Hotel Caravel. We found the hotel staff were particularly friendly, the room spotless as was the rest of the hotel. The food, though not an english menu was very well presented and plentiful, served by very efficient waiter service.

At first we were disappointed as our original hotel booking was cancelled a few days before the holiday and we were allocated this hotel. The Caravel hotel is in within walking distance of the town and the lake. It is in a lovely location with lovely views of the mountains. The lake is about 10 minutes walk away, although quite a steep walk. The hotel is very clean. The food was very good. There was a good choice on the menu and even though I am a fussy eater and we do not eat pork there was always something I liked. We had a language problem as we do not speak Italian or German but the waiters did try to help. We managed with our Italian phrase book most of the time. This hotel seemed to cater well for couples and families. It is in a quiet location which suited us well. The staff were very polite but not friendly but that was probably due to the language barrier. One waiter was very helpful. He could speak Arabic and English. My husband is Egyptian so this was very helpful. Apart from him, the hotel did not give us any information on either the hotel or what to do in the area. You will need to pay the hotel bill in cash, as they do not accept any cards. They don’t tell you this on check in. We found out as we checked out.
