“Adored the service at the Milestone”

Milestone House

5 of 5 stars
Brisbane, Australia
Jul 23, 2008

The owners, Barbara & Micheal, of the Milestone B&B would have to win our vote for the friendlyiest and best service given to us during our extended holiday.
The Milestone is a very comfortable B&B with a great bed, good shower and sensational views over Dingle Bay and harbour. The cooked breakfast was also one of the best that we had in Ireland.
Micheal presented us a self drawn map with all the recommended sights to see on the Dingle Peninsula. He discussed all the points of interest in depth and highlighted the route we should take.
B&M also advised us which were the best hotels to dine and listen to live Irish music (Moriarity's Pub was our excellent choice). Be sure to ask them about the Dingle "Snugs" (little pubs with sooooo much character).

Do yourself a favour and take the Slea Head Drive taking in the Dunbeg stone fort (500BC to 500AD). The Slea Head boat slipway is where they filmed a famous scene in the movie classic, Ryan's Daughter.

“Greatest Hosts”

I recently returned from a two week vacation in Ireland and the Milestone B & B was "hands down" my favorite B & B. Rooms were nice, food was great and Barbara & Michael were the most accommodating hosts I have ever seen. I left some clothes there and Barbara called ahead to our next B & B to tell me about it and then mailed them to our next B & B. Amazing. If I go back to Ireland, I will definately stay there. Also, Dingle Pen. drive is great.

“The best of the best!”

Michael and Barbara run one of the best B&Bs we've stayed in. The rooms were comfortable and breakfasts were good. Best of all, however, was the information on the area that they provide. Michael drew a wonderful map that shows you where the best sites are. They use this map to help you design the perfect day(s) for you. We had our 4-1/2 year old daughter with us, and they offered suggestions (including a short hike) for perfect things to do with her (they also treated her really well). We overheard them offering a young couple a different plan that suited their interests. They also can provide excellent information about other areas in Ireland. We HIGHLY recomment this B&B, and are really glad we chose this to be our first three nights in Ireland.

“Nicest Two People You'll Meet!”

Milestone House

Jul 12, 2008

If you don't just love these two hosts you must be a stick in the mud. Barbara has the true wit of the Irish and Michael is the most caring and helpful man with tourists; he really wants you to have a good time. I spent three days of my 2 month vacation with them and I still really miss Milestone House. A bed is a bed on vacation; it's the people you meet that make the difference. Michael also cooks a wonderful breakfast with homemade bread; try the scrambled eggs and salmon. One more thing, this was the cleanest place I was in on my entire vacation. Sometimes, you'll find Barbara in back pitching golf balls into a bucket if you are lucky!

“Warm Welcome, Beautiful Location, Great Breakfast”

Milestone House

Barbara & Micheal - the owners - turn a visit to this lovely B&B into a stay with friends. Friends who know every nook and cranny of the wonderful historic and pre-historic sites on the Dingle Peninsula. This was my second stay with them and this time I brought 11 folks with me - my kids, and a band I play with, - and they handled everyone, with all the disparate personalities - and boy do we have disparate personalities - with calm, gracious acceptance. They were informative and supportive, directed people to the things they would most enjoy, and gave a presentation on the Dingle Ring that would have done credit to a docent - complete with their own, hand-drawn map. The house itself is fairly new - or so well kept it feels that way. And the location is great - close enough to walk into the town center for the fabulous live music- but far enough out to be quiet and to have a just beautiful view. I spent a couple of hours one afternoon with a cup of tea sitting out front watching the clouds chase over the bay and the hills across it. I strongly recommend a visit to Dingle and a stay at Milestone House. (and Micheals baked daily soda bread. ) Wish I was there now.
