“Warm Welcome, Beautiful Location, Great Breakfast”

Barbara & Micheal - the owners - turn a visit to this lovely B&B into a stay with friends. Friends who know every nook and cranny of the wonderful historic and pre-historic sites on the Dingle Peninsula. This was my second stay with them and this time I brought 11 folks with me - my kids, and a band I play with, - and they handled everyone, with all the disparate personalities - and boy do we have disparate personalities - with calm, gracious acceptance. They were informative and supportive, directed people to the things they would most enjoy, and gave a presentation on the Dingle Ring that would have done credit to a docent - complete with their own, hand-drawn map. The house itself is fairly new - or so well kept it feels that way. And the location is great - close enough to walk into the town center for the fabulous live music- but far enough out to be quiet and to have a just beautiful view. I spent a couple of hours one afternoon with a cup of tea sitting out front watching the clouds chase over the bay and the hills across it. I strongly recommend a visit to Dingle and a stay at Milestone House. (and Micheals baked daily soda bread. ) Wish I was there now.

What really made our three days at Milestone House special is the warm Intelligent family that runs it. The food is great, the town of Dingle is a gentle walk away, and the view across the bay is fabulous. I would not stay anywhere else in Dingle.

“You Cannot Go Wrong”

We stayed at the Milestone for four nights. We stayed at three other B&Bs in Ireland as well. The other three were fine, but they cannot compare to the Milestone. It was absolutely everything we were looking for in a B&B and then some.

We knew this was going to be a good experience as soon as we arrived. We got there late at night, when the restaurants and pubs were just shutting their kitchens. Barbara recommended a pub, and then called there for us, talked to the owner, and asked him to keep the kitchen open until we arrived. It is that sort of personal attention that makes the Milestone stand out.

When you arrive Barbara sits down with you and walks you through her hand-drawn map of the Pennisula, giving you pointers that only a local would know.

She had helpful and honest advice on every subject that we asked her about.

Our room was spotless, large and very comfortable. The views from the Milestone are amazing. It is a 3-minute drive from the center of town.

And the breakfasts, including Michael's home made breads, were absolutely outstanding. Our teenage girls had gone on so much about how much they liked the bread that when we were leaving Barbara gave us some for the road.

These are genuinely nice people that do an outstanding job. We cannot say enough about the Milestone.

“The best”

We often have a preconceived thought about how something ought to be ... and Milestone House was exactly how I imagined B&B's should be! My husband and I traveled around Ireland for several weeks with our 6-month old son. We stayed at several B&B's and have found Milestone House to be the most pleasurable B&B experience we've had in the country.

Milestone House was the only place which served freshly baked white and brown bread. If I am not mistaken, the fruit jams are also homemade. Also, it is one of the very few places which offered a selection of breakfast. Barbara also made sure to keep our coffee fresh. Additionally, Barbara offered to keep our son entertained so as my husband and I can enjoy our meal. While we found everyone friendly in Ireland - Michael and Barbara went far and beyond in extending their hospitality - their genuine and sincere concern was truly heartwarming. Sure, the place is immaculately clean, the room is spacious and the view is spectacular from the front rooms... The location is excellent too- it is away from the town center, hence the view - but it is in the perfect location as it is only 5 minutes drive to town and en route to the slea head area.... But, it's the little things that stood out for us. For instance, Barbara has given extra care to explain the area and give out local information. She also took upon herself to dry my son's jacket which she found hanging in the bathroom. She also offered us Michael's freshly baked bread to take to our slea head loop tour - to add to our picnic lunch. There are plenty of beautiful places across the world - but you remember a place more by the warmth of the people you've come across with and how they have touched your life as you hope you have touched theirs. I think that is the essence of B&B experience!

“We miss Milestone”

Milestone House

We regret only staying here two days. The couple that runs the place are happy to feed you what you need to make your trek out to the stone forts, and will even show you the route to take on a map. They are more like a mom and pop than B&B managers. The place blends in so well with the country side it's easy to miss, so don't panic when you drive right past it your first time. Look for the large megolith in the front yard, just a sample of what you'll be seeing in Dingle. Our B&B suggested going to Marina Pub. People dance in and outside of the pub to Irish music, a guy got up and played spoons. I sat at the table with the band, who were more than happy to share a pint with me. I remember talking to the guitar player, telling me about his travels all around the world. He ended on a memorable note, "But Dingle is home". I felt like the Milestone was my home.
