“Very nice but overpriced”

The Lighthouse B & B

First impressions of this house were excellent;the front of the house looked very inviting and was beautifully presented.i especially liked the bistro style tables outside(where you could sit and look at Dingle bay)from an elivated position , the shrubs and borders and the attractive looking house. These are the things that made me think that this place was worth checking out.

Inside the the house was very well presented too;tasteful furniture and decour in the guest lounge and dining room. The bedroom we had was huge.We did not have a remarkable view but it was ok.The best views are from rooms at the front of the house.
The tv had quite a few channels which i have not always come across in Ireland.Another bonus.

Breakfast is served from 8.30-9.30 No need to pre arrange which is good. There is not enough room if all the guests want to eat at the same time. When this happened we felt that we were being rushed a little to get us out and ready for the next people. The food proportions were not overly generous;the cooked food was lovely and adequate but there really was not enough on the dresser to help yourself to a decent helping of yogurt and fruit etc.Stocks may have been replenished but we did not see this.

The bathroom was clean and suffiient for our needs, however i was disappointed that this did appear to let the rest of the house down in some ways. The reason for this comment is based partly on the price charged, the intimate " toilet and noises" and bathing activities of other guests, the bathrooms being very small in comparision to the more generous room proportions else where really let the place down. A newer bathroom suite and some noise insulation would clinch the 40 euro mark charged.

Dingle does appear to be getting more expensive however i have since found out that there are cheaper b&b's with just as nice locations, same facilities etc.Emlaugh Lodge for example charged 35 euro(check out their website)Also spotted one at 30 euro's-so there are better value out there for those on a budget.

Stayed here for two nights during our trip to the Dingle Peninsula. The house has an amazing view and our room was clean and quiet. The hostess Mary was a delight! There's ample parking in the car park and only about a 10-15 minute walk into the main part of Dingle. It was my favorite B&B during our trip.

We really enjoyed looking out over the ocean from the house. This B&B was just outside of the town of Dingle. It was perfectly located for touring the pennisula. The bedroom was quiet and comfortable. There was a comfortable reading area that my husband enjoyed. The breakfast room was light and airy. Our table was next to the front window that overlooked the water. There was plenty of off road parking.

The pictures can't do justice to the beautiful views from The Lighthouse. This is such a terrific place -- great location, lovely property, good breakfasts, and helpful hosts. We spent 2 nights in Dingle and this was just the perfect location for exploring the peninsula, downtown, etc. Our room was very comfortable and roomy and The Lighthouse is in a quiet area. You can walk from there to town, but it would be a hike. Parking is not a problem, so be brave and take the car! We loved our short time in Dingle and highly recommend The Lighthouse.

One of the nicest B&B during our trip to sunny (!!) Ireland in May 2008. Big, absolutely clean room, nice view, quiet location (10 minutes walk to town – 15 minutes for returning back up the hill after hanging out in the pubs), tasteful and generous breakfast and very charming innkeepers.
