“The most wonderful place to stay in Ireland!”

This was the most beautiful, relaxing, and georgeous place we stayed during our 9-day trip around southwest Ireland. From the minute we came through the front door, we were welcomed with open arms. The staff happily made numerous calls regarding a horseback riding tour for us (weather was bad the day were were to go) without us even having to ask. Breakfast each morning was delicious and service was wonderful. We loved looking out the bay window in our room into a field of cows behind the property. The room itself was incredible-- spotless and beautifully appointed. I don't have a bad thing to say about this wonderful hotel. We were so sad to leave, but we had to move on to our next destination. As we were driving out of Dingle, we were already making plans to return to Emlagh House.

“Loved, Loved, Loved Emlagh House!”

Emlagh House

This property is luxurious, friendly, and in a perfect location to explore Dingle and the peninsula. We stayed for two nights in a beautiful, well-appointed room, with big windows overlooking the mountains. The property is owned and operated by Marian (sp?), who is one of the most delightful people we met in Ireland. Breakfast was excellent, and it is served in a bright, sunny (!) room with views of the water in the distance. The living room with fireplace is comfortable, and the honor bar a great touch. Each afternoon, lemon bars are available along with tea and coffee.

We toured the peninsula on the Slea Head Drive, a stunning, often very narrow, road with exquisite ocean views. The Blasket Interpretive Centre is worth a visit as well. Marian gave us great advice on restaurants (Out of the Blue) and pubs...we watched our very first Hurling tournament at the Dingle Pub.

“Rather lovely, but exorbitantly priced.”

Our two nights at Emlagh House were our splash of luxury during our seven day trip to Kerry. I had enormously high expectations after exploring their website & noting all the reviews I'd read on tripadvisor.

The house is beautifully decorated, spacious and full of natural light. It has a tranquil atmosphere & one could easily pass the afternoon in the elegantly decorated drawing room. I felt slightly misled as to the location - which isn't quite so picturesque as indicated on the website.

The room, "Primrose," was lovely and was just as tasteful as the rest of the house, with a gorgeous bathroom.

Our hosts were courteous, helpful and remembered the little details that matter.

However I hate to put a dampener on things, but 500 euros for two nights is VERY expensive and to be honest it does need to be fabulous at this price.

Was it fabulous enough? I'm not sure it was.

We stayed in other B&Bs (and at the end of the days this IS a B&B, not a hotel with no pool, spa treatments or restaurant) which were lovely - and cost just 35-45 euros each per night.

You can wax lyrical about the breakfast (and don't get me wrong, it was great) but we enjoyed a beautifully prepared breakfast, presented with a flourish and a flower in Bacus (Kenmare) for under 10 euro!

And lets face it, when you're not digging quite so deep into your pocket, you leave with an even better taste in your mouth and a bigger smile on your face! :)

“loved Emlagh House”

Emlagh House

Aug 8, 2007

Found Emlagh House through Trip Advisor reviews and was greatly pleased with the recommendation. Rooms are large and lovely.
Heated bathroom floors and towel racks. Very close to the downtown area, but away from all the tour buses. Back of the house faces the water - beautiful view. Fabulous breakfast included.
If you are interested in horseback riding - contact Dingle Horse Riding. My son and husband thought this 7 hour trip was the best time in Ireland.

The missus and I went to Dingle to celebrate our 35th anniversary. I booked Emlagh House based strictly on reviews here, and am I glad I did! Spectular in every way and convenient to everything!
I'm not a B&B fan, but this lovely establishment is, truly, a home away from home! Beautiful, spacious bedroom...tastefully decorated and comfortable...spectacular bathroom--best shower pressure anywhere...and several places to sit and relax and read...the breakfast is simply superb (grab a table by the window and view the bay...Marion's special breakfast is delicious, but one cup will be plenty, trust me!). Granuille(Sp???), the daughter with whom we mostly dealt, was wonderful.
Everyone there is lovely and more-than-willing to help...do not miss the archaeological tour recommended by the owners...Mr. Collins is spectacular! We also took an eco-tour of the Blasket Islands...no commentary from the captain, really....but a wonderful experience (you WILL get drenched!)
Music everywhere...seafood chowder not to be missed! And, try to see Pauline Scanlon and Donnel Hennesey while in town...the best music we've heard in Ireland!
