“Window on the sea...wonderful”

My wife and I stayed here in June of ’03. One of my best all-time travel memories. We arrived very late at night after driving down from Naples. We checked in, went to our room and went to bed. When we arose the next morning, I opened the shutters to a vast aqua-green sea beyond my window. It was as if our room was floating in the sky above the ocean, or we were on some great sailing ship. This was a lovely hotel. Nice restaurant, nice people. The room was comfortable (though just moderately luxurious). The service was good. The views and the location were spectacular. Be aware, this is in the middle of no where. You have to drive everywhere – whether to Amalfi, Positano or Revello. My advice would be go for a day or two when all you want to do is sit by the sea, read a book and contemplate the reasons for moving to Italy.

Fantastic! My wife and I stayed in a Junior Suite mid-August. Suite was perfectly romantic and private. Spacious and clean. Amazing sea-view. Staff were charming and food was excellent. Location is not bad considering the fact that bus transport was avaialbe every 1/2 hour and takes 10-15 minutes to amalfi city. However you need to take a taxi back to the hotel if you remain in amalfi after 9:30pm. The only problem with the hotel was that the manager's dogs were running freely around the hotel. It's a problem when your wife is terrified from dogs!!

“Excellent Get - Away”

A quiet gem tucked away from the heavily touristed town of Amalfi and right on the sea. The rooms have great views, the breakfast buffet served fantastic coffee and the staff were very friendly. Access to the sea does close when the sun tucks behind the mountains, usually an hour before sunset. Take advantage of special offers on the Best Western site. This hotel has charm and the photos on the website do not do it justice.

Perfect.
The room had a splendid seaview and the water near the hotel is incredibly blue.
We loved our stay.
Just one thing could be improved: breakfast!

“A real find!”

Best Western Hotel Marmorata

My wife and I were looking for a hotel on the Amalfi Coast that was actually ON the coast, which brought us to the Marmorata. Situated on the rocky coast below the sky-high town of Ravello, the Marmorata was exactly what we were hoping for. Rooms have beautiful views of the sea and the property is covered with lovely flowers and vegetation. The highlight, however, is relaxing in the lounge chairs perched on terraces cut right into the cliffside, just a few feet from the sea; we spent many hours there reading by the water and swimming in the warm Mediterranean. As for the food, the breakfasts were a bit thin, but generally the grub was first-rate and the service gracious.

The only drawback of the Marmorata is that it is a bit of a hike (on foot) to any of the nearby towns. However, the bus ran frequently (and with surprising punctuality -- after all, this is the south of Italy!) and one of the real treats was the trip back to the Marmorata from Ravello on foot, down the dozens of cascading staircases that weave their way through the terraced villages, lemon groves and vineyards that dot the mountainside. I can imagine that only the very brave -- and extremely fit -- would want to use self-power for the uphill trip!
