“100% pleased with our stay”

The room was not palacial, but it was immaculately clean, tasteful, and comfortable. We stayed in late November, so I can't comment on the excessive heat problem that some reviewers noted. But our room had one set of french windows on the front and no other openings to allow for cross ventilation, so it would not surprise me if that were a problem during warmer times of the year.

The breakfast room seemed just a bit crowded on the weekends, but we never had any trouble getting immediate seating during the rest of the week. The bread was absolutely delicious and there was a wide variety of cheeses and meat. And the staff was very quick to restock all items as they got low and managed to be extremely friendly. It was a great way to start each morning.

The place is nicely located with bus stops for the 6A and 26 buslines a block and a half away. And Central Station was just a 10 minute walk. Our room was in the front of the hotel on the third floor. Europeans seem to enjoy boistrous singing on Saturday nights following a late night on the town, so it was a noisy on the Saturday night we spent there. Might have been worse if it were warm enough to require open windows. So if you are staying on the weekends you might want to ask for a room in back.

But the bottom line is that this place met our needs very nicely. We didn't need anything large and fancy. We wanted a clean, well maintained room in a good location and with a caring staff. This place fit the bill nicely. Reasonably priced (we got our deal through Orbitz) in a very expensive city. We'd stay here again.

After hearing so much about this hotel, we booked the suite for a weekend stay in Copenhagen. When we checked in, we were told that the suite was only available on our second and third nights and we would have to change rooms after the first night. Then when we arrived into our "standard room", there were old newspapers on the desk, hairs on the pillow, and towels on the floor. It looked like someone tried to cover up the fact that the room hadn't really been cleaned. We called the reception only to find out that the maid had had a death in the family and they had been understaffed. Fine, so we went out for dinner without having any time to freshen up in the room.

The next day we went out (changed keys since we would be checking back into the suite we were promised) and got back to the hotel around 4pm to find that the suite had not been cleaned!! After complaining, they called a maid and gave us a bottle of wine to tide us over while we waited in the reception. The room hadn't been cleaned after an hour and all we wanted to do was relax in our room!

The only positive part about the hotel (aside from the sweet decor of the place) was the breakfast. Fantastic options but very crowded so you have to get there early.

Overall, I would not recommend this hotel unless you don't care about service. Great location though.

“Really Enjoyed this Lovely Hotel”

My partner and I stayed here this past spring and had a wonderful experience. I would certainly put it a cut above a pension, but it wasn't a grand hotel. If you value capacious suites and imposing lobbies this is not the hotel for you. But for us it was perfect.

Our double bed room was in the annex, which was peaceful and sunny (bring an eye mask if you are sensitive to light when you sleep). The bed was deceptively comfortable and the room clean, airy, and welcoming. The walls in the annex were a bit thin to the hallway, and sometimes in the morning we’d hear people moving about, but it never woke us up. Our room had a small deck, which was a fine place to read in the morning.

Staff was universally friendly and obliging. The breakfast buffet (which usually conjures dry muffins and reconstituted o.j.) was superb and is not to be missed. It is a well curated spread of excellent food and fresh coffee and juice overseen by attentive staff, and a nice way to begin each day.

We stayed also in Nyhavn, but preferred funky, low key Vesterbro. The hotel is a bit hard to see from the street, so keep your eyes open. In all, we were very pleased with our stay.

Much of the details have been covered in other reviews. It's a perfectly nice hotel, just not as plush or luxurious as their website makes it look.

The elevator to the reception is small and the entrance unremarkable. You may want to send one person up first to see which building you're in before dragging your luggage up to the reception. We wrested some big bags up to the reception first before finding out we had to go back down to the annex building.

Our top floor room in the annex was hot in late July, but opening the window wide with the fan on made it reasonably cool at night. The annex rooms were blissfully quiet, which I'm not sure if the streetside rooms in the main building would be.

The hotel was packed and there was sometimes a wait for a breakfast table, but never more than 5 minutes and the buffet spread was pretty good.

Neighborhood is totally safe. My wife and I strolled around with our 1 year old quite late at night. Public buses run on the street in front and it's a pretty convenient location.

Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful; more so than almost any other hotel I've been too.

All in all, it's a decent place to stay in a reasonably convenient location. Again, not as fancy as they advertise themselves to be, but in an expensive city, it's not a bad deal.

We were really looking forward to going after reading so many rave reviews and being listed highly in Lonely planet and time out. However the reality was disappointing. The first impression was poor, having to walk up or use a cramped lift to get to the reception area then having to walk to another building. Also the price was a bit confusing, more than we had expected and there was no knowledge of a cot. Once in the room it was very stuffy and only a fan to keep the temperature down. The room was extremely hot and I would not reccommend this room if the temp is mid 20s or higher. I felt for the price we were paying I expected the hairdryer to work and the pedal bin to open and shut properly. The junior suite I could not reccommend for families with toddlers, as the window opens outwards and can be opened easily. The hotel was busy and we had to que for breakfast in a cramped corridor difficult with 2 small children. The breakfast was good there was a wide variety to eat and the staff were always helpful.Overall I wouldn't stay there again, definitely not in Summer.
