“Excellent place to stay!”

Elounda Peninsula All Suite Hotel

The Elounda Peninsula is set about 6km from Elounda and 12km from Agios Nikolaos. They hosted our wedding on 6th June 2008 and they seriously cannot do enough for you. You are treated like royalty from the moment you arrive with staff (even the general manager!) waiting to greet you. They sit you down, offer you champagne and let you relax while they whisk away your luggage to your room. The hotel was full at the time of our stay, but you never would have guessed, the whole aura of the hotel is calm and and relaxed. the food is good, albeit a little expensive but nothing you wouldnt expect in any hotel of this standard, expect to pay about €45+ for lunch for 2 ppl in Elies. Serenes Bar a lovely for a drink in the evening, spectacular views (from the rooms too). The peninsular collection suites are very spacious, the furniture is of an excellent standard in the rooms and throughout the hotel, the pool is checked daily to make sure its clean, the chambermaids are unobtrusive and if you get to see them the are so friendly. The beach is small but lovely and not available to guests from the Porto, sunbed covers as well as towels are provided and staff always circulating to make sure you want for nothing. The waiting on staff are very courteous and polite - really nothing is too much trouble for this hotel and its excellent team. I have one (of many) examples to give, which may sound slightly pathetic, however, I smashed a nail and had them re-done while in situ (nothing to do with the hotel). It went horribly wrong and the hotel, understanding that my nails had to be good for my wedding day found a nail bar, sent a member of their staff with me to translate, the young lady stayed with me until i left the nail bar at gone midnight (thank you stella and the reception staff!) and the whole time had a smile on her face. What hotel would send their staff to do this? Above and beyond the call of duty in every respect. This is a high end hotel, I firmly believe it was worth every penny and i would recommend it again and again. Particular thanks go to Mrs Varfey the GM for making us feel so great and comfortable, Dimitri the F & B mgr for co-ordinating our wedding and reception, and Peter for looking after us at our reception. All in all, if you like high end hotels, you will like this one, we have stayed 5* many times and they pale in comparison to this one, truly.

“Good experience in the Elounda Peninsula”

Elounda Peninsula All Suite Hotel

4 of 5 stars

We stayed in the hotel from 3rd to 10th June and were a little anxious having read the mixed reviews after booking. However, overall I would say that our experience was a positive one and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to have a relaxing sun holiday in a beach location, with Spa facilities nearby if they wished.
The positives:
- We were upgraded to a 2 room suite on arrival - pool, living room and shower room on ground floor and bedroom and large bathroom on first floor (although a bit disappointed to have to walk through reception to get to the beach - many other rooms had direct access)
- The sea and sunbathing area was stunning and free water bottles most appreciated
- Service around the private beach area was very attentive - especially appreciated having the same sunbeds reserved by the attentive pool guy (Evangelos??)
- Hotel is small enough to not seem like one of the larger resort hotels
- We did not eat in the Michelin star restaurant but the reviews in the book outside it were glowing
- Reception staff very helpful (Alex? especially)

The negatives/feedback to the hotel:
- There was a wedding party 3 out of the 7 nights which went on to well after 1/2am and we needed earplugs to stop the noise of the music. Although we had been warned the day before, you do not really expect to have this kind of noise in an expensive hotel, which we had booked for a relaxing holiday
- Could do with a cheaper restaurant on site. We ended up going to Elounda most nights (7 euro in cab) to eat
- Would recommend the hotel needs somewhere to eat breakfast outside which is one of the pleasures of not being in the UK. We ended up having room service and eating on the terrace in our room to achieve this.
- The breakfast selection was not that extensive but I guess it is a small hotel. Don't have the pancakes - they were horrible and we sent them back!
- The gym in both the Peninsula and Porto Elounda was small and very limited equipment

Overall, a lovely stay and would recommend the hotel for a relaxing holiday...

“nice :)”

hi, i just want to say about the negative hotel reviews some people dont know what they want from a hotel an they expect resorts like those in asia or other places. for sure until now greece doesnt offer this... but similar to this.for this hotel i ve been before many years april or may, i found everything ok. of course in greece is everything overpriced during summer.of course they have now the six senses spa, nice, but they have alot work to do , and i m sure one day they they will be one of the top resorts in greece.i know the cost to operate a hotel in greece is very high to keep the standards. but then someone pays 1200 euro in in soneva gilli or 800 euro in four seasons koh samui, or the aman resort wants 1000 euro for a villa that has the nicest decor and presentation and service, its not easy to pay this money or more for a resort (and i dont speak for the peninsula only) in greece and dont have the same standards and everything in the same level like in other places in other countries.i hope by the time when new resorts complete here... maybe be better and help competition ... thanks.

“Overpriced for what it is”

Elounda Peninsula All Suite Hotel

Crete has changed. unfortunately it is much worse. There is little charm and not enough real villages and people. The resort is supposed to be really fantastic and very luxurious at least in service. Well , it is neither. There is nothing really wrong with it, but for the price one pays, one should get much better. overall disappointing.

A lot of people seem to be neglecting the fact that prices are determined by market laws: supply and demand. The Elounda Peninsula is a hotel that has high prices in response to surging demand year after year, as well as in response to the cost of our top-tier services: a "World's Best" spa (according to the Sunday Times) and Conde Nast Traveller), a Michelin-star chef, a private golf course, private beach, private yachts, private cinema, and exclusively seafront accommodation in large suites with private pools. It's OK to say that there is nothing wrong with our services, but it's not OK to not say anything about what in fact the experience was (other of course than an impression of the island as a whole). We, who live here, know many places where "real" people and "real" villages are still to be found, but this requires venturing out of full-service luxury resorts like ours and spending time to explore. It is clear that this was not the case here, and it is also evident that despite the suggestion that "one would expect a lot more", there was not a single mention of anything that could be said to be missing. Then again, this would require having experienced many other top-of-the-line seafront resorts, but the Travel Map shows only two (!!) other trips abroad (one to Cyprus and one to northern France), so what more could one say?

This is too expensive and too hyped up. A very mediocre hotel with mediocre service. There is nothing special about the area either. We stayed there last May and we were very disappointed with the whole product. I wish I had listened to a friend of mine who did say there is nothing much wrong with it but does not deserve the rating it has. The worst thing about it is that it is a bit dated in design and the service is slow and not very friendly.

The management of the hotel has done its best to locate this guest's stay on its records and has contacted them thourgh this site in order to find out what went wrong. As we have pointed out before, there's no use telling us about a problem after leaving the hotel, because there's nothing we can do about it any more. We aim to please and we are very serious about that. Please, please, when staying with us do tell us if there's something we can do better for you. Needless to say, we have encountered quite a few guests who take advantage of a provision in British Legislation that allows for refunds to complaining guests, and in the case of people who don't have a record of staying with us it is common to discover the malevolent intentions of unknown third parties behind the comments.
