The location of the hotel is literally across from the beach, a beautiful stretch of golden coastline, which was very clean and enjoyable to walk. It takes about 30-40 mins to walk into the old town from this hotel, which is a nice walk if it is still bright, wouldn't recommend it if its dark (as there is no proper footpath). Taxis are readily available and cost about 4 euro. Was a bit disappointed in the room, as we had requested a double bed and we got twin beds. When we inquired as to why we didn't get a double bed, the receptionist told us that there were no double beds available. But the room had a great view of the ocean and of the hotel pool and gardens. The room was very basic but sufficient and nicely decorated. Clean towels were delivered every day which was impressive. The town of Lagos is a beautiful old town with a haven of cobbled streets and we enjoyed finding little restaurants and bars of which there are many! We especially enjoyed Duquesa, Vino deVino, Mullens, to name but a few, and found the food to be excellent in general. A car is recommended if you are interested in exploring the area, a trip to the mountain village of Monchique and a trip to Sagres are recommended! Would definitely go back to Lagos!!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was disgusting. The hotel is old and run down. The lobby looks okay but our room was gross. The carpet was filthy and heavily stained. The room had a hideous smell to it. The staff, especially the man at the bar area was very rude. The only thing this place has going for it is the saltwater pool. I noticed some rooms had hardwood/tile floor , so if you do book here, i would reccomed that you book one of those rooms. P.S. there is no air conditioning.

stayed here at the end of june 2006. first imprssions really leave this hotel down. driving up the hill and going to reception i was seriously worried. the hotel is in desperate need of a make-over on its exterior. however, on entering reception i was pleasantly surprised. its quite modern and well decorated. the views from this hotel are top class, the location is adequate, short taxi to lagos centre, not really walking distance. the breakfast is average, a very basic buffet style. the rooms, the two that i saw are nice, with a beachy fell to them but again very basic. this is really where the positives end. this has the potential to be such a nice hotel, but unfortunately the grumpy demeanour of all the staff particularly reception really lets this hotel down. be aware also if you book your stay through another website. we booked a double sea view room. on arrival we were given a room with a land view. when i say land view i mean ugly cliff overlooking the parking area. in fact the whole back side of the hotel suffers from having to look at this site. we went back to reception and showed the gentleman our booking receipt for sea view double room. he very reluctantly changed it without uttering a single word except to say "sea view are twin only"!! the views of meia praia are worth it though and one could have a very different experiance if they were stuck looking at the parking lot instead!!

this hotel is nice enough, basic and you get what you pay for (just about!)

Stayed here with my girlfriend a few weeks ago. Here are some positives and negatives:

+ Beautiful surroundings, decoration of rooms, facilities (pool, tennis courts), tranquil location, breakfast, and price. We felt in a 'mini-resort'.
- Beds weren't comfortable, water pressure on the bathroom was very weak, rooms wer a bit small, and there are no fans/air conditioner in the rooms.

All in all, price/quality ratio is higher than average. I'd stay here again but not in the middle of the summer.
