“couldn't believe our luck”

We booked our holiday with a website and was told our room was cancelled 2 days before we were due to leave on our original booking and was offered the marina club in Lagos. Well we could not believe how nice the hotel was. Rooms were immaculate and very modern and spacious we had a studio apartment, but to be honest i have been in smaller 2 bed apartments, it was huge. We had a fantastic view over the pool and marina and a large balcony which was private. There was a kitchenette and this was tastefully done with a large supermarket around the corner if you wanted to self cater this would have been easy and cheap. We booked bed and breakfast and the food was really nice with a choice of continental or full english to help yourself to both if you wanted. Staff were very friendly and pool was large with a smaller one for children and large fluffy white towels could be collected each day from the gym to use by the pool for no extra cost . The marina has a small collection of bars and restaurants within 2 min walk. If you walked a further 5 mins you were in Lagos which has an array of bars, shops and restaurants. In the other direction it took approx 5-10mins to a lovely long beach dotted with bars and eateries and sunbeds to hire. We had a 16 and 19 year old with us who really enjoyed this also. This was a very relaxing holiday and there was also a gym sauna and steam room available for 10 euros a visit. We took a boat out to see the dolphins and what a trip they were right next to the boat we went with algarve dolphins for 10euros each. Would definately return.

“Relaxing, Friendly, Top Class”

Marina Club Lagos Resort

Ah, the Marina Club, what a place. From the moment we arrived we were happy with our choice. We took a two bedroom apartment in the new block (II) and the apartment was perfect. It was very well kitted out and the only thing that could have improved it was having a grill or oven in the kitchen.

Very friendly staff throughout especially the cleaners who came every day and were very obliging if the time was not convenient. They solved any problems we had efficiently and with a smile, nothing was too much trouble for them.

The pool area was great for our two kids (under 3) and felt very safe. A special mention to Jose the "pool guy" who made sure the kids were all happy and had enough toys to keep them occupied.

The location in the marina made for nice evening walks into town and there was a very plesant atmosphere in the marina area.

Overall a very good stay and I would have no hesitation in going back.

“great location”

My husband and I are just back from 6 days staying at this great hotel. Were concerned as previously read about construction behind hotel but in the whole time did not hear or see building work actively happening. There are apartments being built still behind the hotel so maybe we were just lucky and the builders were on their hols!

Had booked just a standard studio as site I used said no pool view available. We were delighted to get into the apartment and find we had a straight ahead view of pool area and the marina beyond - room c203 in the 4 star block. Best to get mid to higher floors as some ground apartments are in shade of the garden area and trees around the pool- dont worry there are lifts. Balcony was a nice spot for those pre dinner drinks and book reading.

Room massive for 2 people, very clean and modern. Strangely the furniture had no drawers which meant I had to be tidy with the nik naks us ladies have.

Best apartment I have come across in a lot of years of apartments on holiday. Apartment laminated throughout instead of the usual cold tiles and kitchen and bathroom above average spec. A kettle, toaster and micro-wave provided where normally you are asked to pay extra for these.

Cant say we used kitchen as believe I cook enough at home so always eat out. We had a couple of particularly good meals at the restaurant above the fish market - Estrela Do Mar. They do great cataplana and I had a excellent sword fish in an orange and almond sauce - best sword fish ever and very moist. You get a great view of the sun going down over the beach as you are on the roof and can eat in or outside. It is pricier than some of the restaurants in town but worth it for a treat. The cataplana was about £10 each but we struggled to finish it as was stuffed of all sorts of fish.

Will be going back next year to Lagos and booking the hotel again as feel it is in just the right spot and very good standard.

“Heaven!”

I would describe the Marina Club in Lagos as heaven.

My husband and I think our stay in Lagos was one of our best holidays that we have been to and can't wait to go back.

The candidates photo's show the hotel exactly how it is. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment and it was very spacious.

The bathroom was very big and had very thing you need in it.

The apartment had a big built in wardrobe which probably could fit 10 weeks worth of clothes in it.

The kitchen had all the utensils that we needed. We had to buy our sponge and washing up liquid. The local supermarket was a 3/4 min walk and everything in there was so cheap.

The bed was very comfortable. There was a plasma TV on a remote unit which we could move around. There was a dining table in the room. We had a balcony which looked upon the pool and had two chair on it with a small table.

The pool was very clean and towels were provided in the pool area for your use.

The hotel bar was very quiet in the evenings so we used to go out. There were bars / restuarants within a 2 min walking distance and the town centre was a 5-10 min walk,

The area was very safe and the streets we're lit very well and used to be busy for most of the evening. In was quite chilly in the evenings so make sure you wrap up warm.

The beach was a 10 min walk but was well worth going as they have coves that you can walk through and explore.

I would advise anyone going to Portugal to stay in Lagos and at the Marina Club.

We have just arrived back from Lagos and I felt that I had to write a review about our stay at the marina club. We are a young family of four and we all loved the apartments it was pure heaven. Our rooms were cleaned daily by a team of friendly cleaners. We stayed in a one bed appt and the rooms were spacious and light, the bathroom was not large but it contained all that you needed, a bath with overhead shower, sink, toilet and bidet. Our towels were changed daily and they provided travel size shampoo, 2 soaps and shower cap. They provide an iron and ironing board for as long as you needed it for, we kept ours for the whole week!
In the kitchen they provide all stainless steel equipment such as microwave/grill, electric hob, fridge with a small freezer, toaster and kettle all we needed to buy was washing up liquid, sponge and food. The lounge area seats two large sofas that we slept on most nights when we were too tired too go to the bedroom!
They have a small tv on wheels that can be moved to the bedroom as well. They have a few english channels and some other channels that were not, sometimes had english shows with the language subtitled. They had BBC1/2/4,sky news, fashion tv, eurosport, CBBC and CBeebies for the kids.
The reception staff were v helpful with directions and places to go. The pool got v busy after 11.30am so if you intend to stay at the poolside for most of the day best bet to go early, but don't worry there is no reserving sun loungers so it is first come first served.
Towels for the pool are provided in the spa reception so you only need your own towels for the beach.
All shops and restaurants are within walking distance. The beach is also around 10/15 minutes walk - the sand is beautiful. Be careful on windy days as the wind blows the sand about and can sting. Carry warm clothes for the evening as it is hot in the days and cool inthe evenings especially as you are right next to the marina.
We all loved the area it was peaceful and relaxing for all, there are lots to do if you want but relaxing if that is what you are looking for.
