ServiceWe stayed at eight different hotels during our trip in April 07. This is a very nice hotel. This hotel was very clean and the staff spoke English and were very helpful. There is a tram stop right in front of the hotel, and front desk sells tram tickets. The tram made it very quick and easy to get into the center of town to access shopping and the train station. We celebrated our anniversary at this hotel and my husband had requested flowers and champagne. They provided beautiful roses and delicious French champagne - it was VERY nice. Our room was very quiet. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but we did not visit it. We had a fantastic dinner at Reithalle in what appeared to be the theater district of downtown. Zurich is a beautiful and clean city!

ServiceOverall a great hotel. I stayed here specifically because of their a/c, and even though I didn't really need it bc it wasnt that hot, the a/c (or cooling unit) worked fine. You'll be hard-pressed to find a hotel in Zurich with strong a/c like we have in the states. Even though the hotel wasnt really what I'd call walking distance from the main train station/shopping area, I thought the location was fine -- 2 metro lines stop right in front of the hotel and it's 3 short stops from the main area. It's about 2.30 CHF each trip, so I thought it was better to use it than to walk. I didn't mind the intermittent noise of the metro stopping in front of the hotel, but then again, I'm from NYC, and am used to sounds of nighttime traffic. The rooms were great, very modern, clean... I think I had one of the best hotel sleeps at this place -- the blanket and pillow were so comfortable. Bathroom was small, but also clean & convenient, with a closing door to the shower. Breakfast wasnt included for me here, but I paid for it, and enjoyed it. Overall, great experience!

Business serviceOn the map, this hotel (4 *) is 1 kilometer from the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) of Zürich, so I decided to walk from the station. I didn’t realize that the hotel is up a hill quite a ways, and got a bit of a workout! If you don’t want to walk, take the northbound 11 or the 14 tram located just outside of the train station, and get off on the third stop (Kronenstrasse). The tickets are 2.50 Swiss francs and good for 30 minutes; one can purchase a Zürich card from the tourist information center in the train station good for unlimited tram, bus, and boat travel in and around Zürich for 24 hours (15 Swiss francs) or 72 hours (30 Swiss francs). With a Zürich card, access to the entire city of Zürich from the hotel is a cinch.
Our room was spacious and clean without any trace of cigarette smoke. The sound of traffic and trams could be heard from the room, but it was not too noisy. The “queen sized bed” was two twin beds pushed together, and they did not have a crib or pullout bed available for our toddler. Bathroom was average-sized and clean. There’s an electronic scale, which I thought was unique and interesting, but my wife disagrees!
The room itself has a television, air conditioner, safe, and small refrigerator / minibar. When we first arrived, the air conditioner (a room unit, not centralized A/C) was dripping water onto the floor with condensation. The clerk at the front desk told me that the service people were not sure if the problem could be helped, so I had to put a towel on the floor. However, after a few hours, it stopped dripping and was no longer a problem for the rest of my stay. Internet access can be had without charge if you bring your own cable; wireless access (802.11b) can be purchased from Swisscom mobile.
The front desk clerks are cheery and helpful. Our bed linens, towels, and toiletries were replaced daily. Continental breakfast was included in our fare and was pretty good – I think their coffee was the best I’ve had on my Europe trip. I know this is a minor point, but I expected this hotel to have key cards instead of an actual door key on a big, heavy keychain – I think I am just being too picky. Overall, the room, service, and location are great for exploring the city of Zürich, and I would definitely stay here again.

ServiceI got a great deal on this hotel directly from their website. 135CHF for a single deluxe room. The hotel isn't located downtown in the old town but is located in a decent area a 7minute tram ride from the bahnhofstrasse. I didn't find it inconvienent. I had no problem with the air conditioning and it was hot, over 80, when i was there. Nor did I have to use a key to turn it on. The bed was great, fluffy duvet and pillows, nice way to get over my jet lag. Breakfast was above average as well. Highly recommend it for the price, as Zurich is fierce expensive.
