“The best place I have ever stayed.”

By far the best hospitality and holiday experience I have ever had. It is hard to describe how fantastic this place is... the food and fantastic hospitality by Andrea can not be matched anywhere.

The pool is divine, the surroundings just so peaceful and relaxing. Dinner each night in the porch was truly special and very reasonably priced too. The food was so good that we didn't go anywhere else for dinner in the 5 nights we stayed there and most other guests were the same.

The rooms are very simple, but perfectly comfortable. Everything about this place felt easy and comfortable, just a pleasure to be there.

You will definitely need a car as it is some way from the centre of San Gimingnano but the countryside is so peaceful, it is worth it.

Many of the guests staying here had been at least once before so that is a very good recommendation. I think it might be like an addiction - everyone must stay here and all will return.

My husband Keith and I are one of the two British couples referred to who stayed at Casolare for a fortnight. I do admit finding it was a problem but once we settled in to 'Gallia' the small room with bathroom set outside the main building and ate our gorgeous lunch of ham, melon, salad, bread and beer we knew we had picked just right.
We drove to Pisa, Sienna (saw the lead up to the Pallio and then Andrea put the race on for us in reception on our return), Florence, Volterra and the Chiantis all wonderful.
My husband is picky with his food but we ate in every evening but one when we ate in San Gimignano and wished we'd stayed in! The food was wonderful! We ate outside every night although you could do with a wrap as it was a little cool. Breakfast was enough to keep you going till a small snack in the afternoon and was also lovely.
We loved it so much we are booked again for our 25th anniversary 2008 and we cant wait!

“A Little More Information”

Casolare di Libbiano

To preface this review, we had cold weather with rain and wind the entire 7 days we were here. It was our 1st time in Italy and were excited about staying in Tuscany in a villa but be advised that although Casolare is nice and the dinners are great that it does not have any telephone, TV, clocks, radio, or internet. Now for the stressed out this would be wonderful but we needed a little more activity. As mentioned in other review it is 10 minutes away from San G. but then you turn off onto a dirt road that is windy for 2 miles--not exactly good for traveling out at night. The rooms are fine but showers were weak and had to space our showers. Berta and Andrea are very nice and try to accommodate but had to ask to have heat turned on and fire in fireplace more than once. Loved side trip to Sienna, Radda Greve.

“The best accomodations of our Italian Vacation”

Casolare di Libbiano

Berta and Andrea were the perfect hosts and Casolare di Libbiano was the best! We were a bit skeptical about sending a personal check in the mail for our deposit, considering what we read from others. Everything was perfect!!!!!!!!! Casolare di Libbiano was absolutely beautiful, the breakfasts were wonderful, always served with a smile from Andrea. We originally wanted to go to different restaurants around Tuscany for dinner, but after our first dinner at Casolare, we were sold on dining there every evening. The food and atmosphere was wonderful, and sitting in the lounge with our cappuccino with the other guests from all over the world and chatting until the wee hours of the morning was fantastic! If I had to complain about anything, it would be that the beds could have been a bit more comfortable. We had this issue elsewhere in Italy as well. Please, don't hesitate for a second....Casolare di Libbiano delivered wonderful memories. Would go back in a heartbeat!

“Perfect Honeymoon Getaway”

WOW! I am typically a very critical person and very hard to please, but Casolare Di Libbiano was the PERFECT honeymoon getaway for me and my wife. Berta and Andrea were the most gracious hosts and the food was by far the most memorable part of our trip! We didn't plan on this, but we ate there 4 out of the 5 nights we stayed and regretted not eating there on the 5th.

San Gimignano was a beautiful town as well, very romantic. I'm not a fan of white wine, but you have to try San Gimignano's whites which are world renouned.

Casolare was a good spot to tour West Tuscany. We drove to Pisa, Volterra, Florence and Siena. Maybe with more time we could have made it all the way to Cortona. But with the beautiful landscapes, peaceful surroundings and good food, we found it hard to leave Casolare! I can't wait to go back!
