“A good base in Florence”

Antica Dimora Firenze

5 of 5 stars
Palo Alto, CA
Jul 15, 2008

We had a very pleasant stay here in July. Our room was very quiet, the A/C worked well. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Breakfast was good, but I would not call it excellent. It was practically the same the three days we were there. A couple of cereal options, no granola and no bran based cereals. One cheese and one kind of ham. Two choices of bread. Very good coffee, bread and jams. A different cake every day. Fruit. Tea and coffee were available the whole day, as well as fruit, that was good. An excellent breakfast would have had a salad, some eggs option and more dairy.

In my view the location is perfect. It is far enough from the center of the city to be quiet, but close enough to walk everywhere.

People are very nice and friendly, giving very good recommendations. They also handled the reservations for the museums for us ahead of time. They had good email communication.

I don't think I'm going back to Florence anytime soon, but if I were to I would definitely stay here again.

“Above and beyond at the Antica Dimora Firenze”

My daughter was injured and the hotel was so helpful. They called our car service, let us stay in our room even though we had checked out. They just went above and beyond to help us. The room was clean and comfortable and very spacious. It was centrally located too. I would highly recommend the hotel.

“Feelling allrigth”

Antica Dimora Firenze

Jul 13, 2008

My nephew and his wife, who were living in Barcelona, told us about Antica Dimora and gave us a picture (un triptico). Then I wrote an email to Residenza Johannna I and finally we got two rooms in Antica Dimora Firenze.

We loved the place, really. It was a greate experience arriving every day at nigth-time, open the door and listen to some piano music at a very low level coming from the jukebox in that beautifull living-room.

The room was very comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and the shower with a lot of water falling directly to my head (I'm 1.94 mts tall). The bed was nice and we could sleep very well.

Breakfast was good: good cofee, bread, cheese and salami.

In that conditions, every day was a great Firenze waiting for us.

“don't tell everyone about it...”

Antica Dimora Firenze

Jul 13, 2008

A lovely guesthouse. Small, very tastefully designed, comfortable, a refuge from the heat of July days, and extremely helpful and friendly service. All at a pretty reasonable rate -- please don't tell everyone about it otherwise there won't be space for me to go back there.....! Highly recommended.

“Loved Antica Dimora and The Market House, J&A, London”

Antica Dimora Firenze

5 of 5 stars
London, United Kingdom
Jul 10, 2008

We stayed at the Antica Dimora Firenze for 2 nights and The Market House for 3 nights and both were all we required and more for a wonderful walking based sightseeing trip to Florence. Both properties were in close proximity to the sights but sufficiently tucked away from the crowds with fantastic local bars, restaurants and markets nearby. Special mention needs to be made for the excellent staff who arranged our accomodation at short notice, sorted out our late arrival outside of their usual working hours and, in particular, Umberto for ferrying us and our bags for the changeover and showing us around The Market House. The Market House, in a central and popular part of the city, allowed us to take in a slice of Florentine life and by the time we left we really felt we had got to know the place well and our way around - it was a shame we didn't stay longer to explore the local area more. No problems with wi-fi at Antica Dimora and free internet access all day to 7pm at the cafe in Piazza Sant'Ambrogio, 1 minutes walk from The Market House, meant that a small business could be kept running in relaxing surroundings whilst being away on holiday.
