My fiancé and I stayed at the Hotel Europa in December 2007 and I’m sorry it’s taken me this long to write a review of this fantastic hotel.

We toured Rome, Sorrento, Florence, Venice, Paris and London on this trip – and have done lots of travel on previous occasions and this has been one of my favourites.

The hotel’s location to the Accademia, Duomo and the Uffizi made it ideal for our quick trip (2 nights) in Florence, but the size and amenities of the room made me wish I were staying longer.

We stayed in the Dante Suite and had a great view of the Duomo dome and as it overlooked a courtyard it was very quite. This room was absolutely HUGE!! We had a big king bed, writing desk, mini refrigerator, wardrobe and television. There were plenty of heaters in the room. The bathroom was also big – large bath with shower over it. Bidet, toilet, basin as well as a heated towel rack which was the best! The bathroom was exceptionally clean and the furnishings in the bedroom were in a Florentine style. The windows had both shutters and black-out drapes, so if you like it dark – this is great.

Breakfasts in the morning were great and served with a smile by Gassim (who always remembered my name!)– coffee was good, nice juice, toast, fruit, etc.

Aside from an amazing room (and it really was brilliant), the best thing about this hotel is the people. We were warmly greeted by Miriam after arriving via a 3 hour train trip. She was so welcoming and lovely – she personally showed us to our rooms and gave us maps, circling recommended restaurants and advising us on the best times to go to the museums, etc.

I really can’t believe this is only a 2 star hotel. The location, cleanliness, friendliness and style just make it so much more.

Admittedly, Florence was not my favourite of the Italian cities we visited, but the Hotel Europa really was a beautiful place to stay and the best of our trip. Thank you so much Miriam and Gassim!

Clean and comfortable, the staff/owners are very friendly and willing to help wherever they can making museum reservations, booking restaurants and calling taxis. We had a late flight back home, our luggage was looked after throughout the day and they even made us a cup of tea before we set of for the station. Excellent location for seeing all the sights of Florence. If you decide to travel from Florence to Pisa Airport by coach with Terravision make sure you buy your ticket in advance from the Bar Deanna (just across the road from the station) priority is given to tickets holders and you may not get on the coach if it is busy.

“Friendly hotel in great location”

My husband and I stayed in this family run hotel for 2 nights. It is located in walking distance of the main train station between the Duomo and Galleria del'Academia so the location is perfect! Although it is situated on a busy road, the rooms are in the back of the building and we heard nothing but birds and church bells. The rooms are charmingly decorated and comfortable. The bed was good too. Perhaps not up to standard if you are used to top-end hotels but perfectly clean and pleasant. The best part of the hotel however (apart from the location) are the people that work there. They are very friendly and helpful and make you feel at home.
We would definitely recommend this hotels to friends and family.

We picked this hotel based on the reviews at Tripadvisor. As the reviews all say this is a great little hotel in the heart of Florence. You can walk to everything, including the Train station. The rooms are large, especially the family rooms which are actually huge. We easily fit 4 kids into the room. Our only complaint was the breakfast could have slightly better. Also they were renovating the 3rd floor, which added some noise, but I would expect them to be finished soon. Maybe you should ask if you book.

The hotel recommended a good restaurant (ZaZa) that is only a few blocks away it was our favorite in Florence. Also make sure you make it to the outside market just around the corner (closed Mondays) from the hotel. My wife bought a beautiful leather jacket for 60 Euros. We saw similar one in NYC last week for over $600. Make sure to bargain. The price quoted started at $150 Euros.

What a lovely stay! The hotel is in a terrific location and has beautiful Florentine rooms that are kept very clean. The owners are wonderful, and despite a few small problems, they resolved all our concerns and gave us wonderful service. Miriam made reservations for us at the museums, which saved us hours of waiting in line. She also recommended an amazing restaurant, which turned out to be THE BEST food we had in our entire trip to Italy. The price was reasonable considering the great location (right between the Duomo and the Accademia) and the personalized service. I'd definitely go back the next time I'm in Florence.
