“Great Hotel, Great Price”

Hotel Caravaggio

My husband and I really liked this hotel. The room was a good size and clean. The only negative was the shower was very small but it did what it was supposed to. The breakfast was actually pretty good. No noise and a great view of the Duomo from our room. Florence is very small so we were by the train station but not far from any of the sights. We are going back in March of next year, this time with our family, and will definitely stay here again. I'm also posting some pictures of the hotel and the view so ya'll can judge for yourselves.

“Would not stay at the Caravaggio”

I booked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews and it was a mistake. Trip advisor reviews say that it is centrally located, but it is located on the outskirts of Florence near the train station. The area appeared dodgy to me, but I am no expert and most of Florence seemed safe. This place did not meet our expectations and the management was unfriendly upon our arrival. They quickly checked us in without even looking at us and told us to leave our passports at the front desk and to pick it up when we came down. When we arrived in the room, we noticed a musty/moldy odor. The room was simply furnished with old furniture, small, and dark with one tiny window that looked out to a wall. I felt extremely claustrophobic. I quickly checked out the bathroom and it wasn't much better. We quickly decided we could not stay here and be comfortable. The management was very rude and yelling at us as we told them we didn't feel comfortable here and the smell was unbearable. They made us pay for several nights stay which I am currrently disputing (we booked for 4 nights). I would not book a stay here again.

“This place is the worst!!”

Do not believe the good reviews of this place. We booked here based on the reviews. It is disgusting with a musty smell. The location is not good. There are many more central hotels than this one, at a similar rate, and much cleaner and furnished better. It is also located in a bad area near the train station, and as I said, this is NOT centrally located. The management is even worse, very rude and unhelpful. If I could give this zero stars I would. I think they write their own reviews.

“Bad location, paper thin walls, but cheap and decent breakfast”

Hotel Caravaggio

My husband and I walked about six miles a day in Florence, seeing all there was to see in two and a half days. At night we were exhausted,, and needed a good night of sleep. The walls were paper thin, and we were woken up late at night every night we stayed there with people coming in. It wasn't abnormal noise, just our neighbors talking at a normal volume and laughing, heels clicking in the hall. Everything seemed to have the volume turned up to max because the walls were so thin, and I can sleep though Armageddon. The breakfast was decent, and the staff was helpful. The location seemed a little run down, with the street called Hotel Ave., or something like that. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but we'd pay 15 Euro more a night to stay in a much better hotel in a better area of town if we could do it over.

“Great hotel”

Hotel Caravaggio

Just come back from a trip to Florence with five friends and stayed at The Caravaggio, excellent value. The hotel is very central for the train station and all the wonderful sights of this city. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and very pleasant and the breakfast was more than adequate. The only small fault was the rooms at the front of the hotel were rather noisy because it is sited on a busy road so maybe ask for a room at the back of the hotel but other than that I could not recommend this hotel highly enough, great value for money.
