3 nights from 12/21-12/24. Exactly what we were looking for. It was off season so we got it for ~$90 per night. We walked around a lot, even very late at night. Never had any problem with safety.
Rooms were small, but most rooms in Italy seemed similar in size. Shower was the only difficult part of staying here. Hand held shower with a stand, but if you leave it on the stand, the water points to the wall. Couldn't wash my hair, luckily there's a salon right downstairs, got a wash and blowout for ~15 euros, was much easier than washing my own hair.
Fantastic staff. They served us drinks in the little bar too. Very friendly.
Breakfast was okay- the usual- bread rolls, jam, cheese, coffee, cereal.
They have a computer with internet service in the main hall. Very affordable and convenient.
Would love to go back.

“Quiet and friendly hotel”

Hotel Caravaggio

We stayed for three nights in this hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was ideal, within minutes of the market and 5 - 10 minutes walk from Santa Novella station - excellent for connecting with Terravision bus to Pisa airport. Food was easily available within walking distance of the hotel - cheap and good - lots of Italians and not many tourists. Breakfast in the hotel was great - much more than we expected. We had a roof top view and could see the Duomo, room was comfortable and very clean. Location was ideal - 10 minutes walk to the Duomo, 15-20 minutes from the Uffizi and the bridges. Would definately recommend Hotel Caravaggio and we will stay there again.

“Excellent choice”

Hotel Caravaggio

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for 4 nights at the end of January. This hotel represents excellent value for money. The room was absolutely spotlessly clean - as was the bathroom, and fresh towel and bedsheets were supplied on a daily basis. Breakfast is basic, but will set you up for the morning no problem. The hotel is in an excellent location - around 10 minutes walk from all major attractions, and just 5 minutes from the local markets which are very nice to amble through. Furthermore, the hotel is still in a relatively quiet area - we heard no noise whatsoever from outside. I would highly recommend visiting Florence in Jan/Feb as the weather is great for walking and the city is not crowded with tourists. One final point is that there are plenty of nice restaurants on the hotel's doorstep, which again was a bonus. All in all, I would highly recommend staying in the Caravaggio. You will not be disappointed.

“Florentine magic”

We selected this hotel after comparing reviews in Tripadvisor and found it to be anexcellent choice. Just 10 minutes stroll from the railway station opposite a lovely big square and five minutes from the fabulous Florence markets where the bargains are incredible even with a lousy exchange rate. $A300 for a lambskin jacket!

Because Florence is quite small we walked everywhere and the hotel was an excellent base. Rooms were a trifle small but very comfortable and clean. Bathroom was also cosy - why they insist on squeezing in a bidet - but adequate and the shower was excellent. We had a room overlooking the square so we were able to watch the world pas by.

The hotel had a lovely garden next to the bar and sitting in the evening with a cool drink was very enjoyable prior to going to dinner. The hotel provided a buffet breakfast which was basic but plenty of variety and certainly adequate to start the day.

Staff were very friendly and helpful and language was never a problem.

It really was a great place to stay and excellent value for money.

“Lives up to all the positive reviews”

Hotel Caravaggio

5/5 found this review helpful

We booked this hotel after redaing the very good reviews.
The things we look for in a hotel are the following.
Clean rooms/good housekeeping.Friendly helpful staff. Good location. Value for money.
The Caravaggio had all of these.
Arrived two hours before official check in but room was ready. We were actually given an upgrade (A room with a view for the same money). Safe in the room is free (Many hotels charge). Map of Florence given.
Breakfast is a cold buffet with a very good choice of items, which are constantly topped up, so whatever time you get there everything is always available (definitely not something we have found with some hotels).
Location is very good 10-15 minutes walk to main station or City centre. Handy good value (For Florence)Pizzeria restaurant next door to the hotel.
Just one further comment ,more on Florence than the hotel. As you can see we stayed there in February. Great time to go. A little bit cold but hey wrap up and you're O.K.. No big crowds shoving you around, or getting in the way of your views of either the scenery, or artistry, and no queues at any of the places you will want to visit.
