“Great Place to Sleep in a Fantastic Location”

Hotel Il Perseo

4 of 5 stars
Pasadena, CA
Mar 29, 2008

This three-star hotel is in a great location about 30 seconds walking from the Duomo. Although it is in one of the busiest parts of Florence, the street noise does nto reach the bedrooms three floors up. When you walk in, you will think you've made a mistake to book there (the ground level is open to the street and not very well taken care of), but make your way up to the welcome area and into your room and you will feel better. If not immediately, take part in their nightly "happy drink" for a free glass of wine and then you will definitely feel better!

The rooms here are large, with the standard high ceilings you'll find in most Italian structures. The beds are comfortable and the flat-screen televisions get many good channels in multiple languages. The bathrooms are a little underwhelming--the shower temperature consistently went in steady waves from hot to cold and the drainage was not optimal. One upside is that the wall outlet here has a built-in voltage converter, so feel free to bring your haircare appliances (even though a blowdryer is also present)!

The best part of our stay though really was the staff. Everyone there is incredibly friendly, especially Badr who usually worked nights and hosted the happy hour. He offered numerous great reviews for local restaurants and clubs--I *really* feel like he knows the city of Florence.

If you plan to "really do" Florence on your stay, Hotel Perseo will provide a perfect place to lie your head at night, or rest your tired legs between sights in the city.

This hotel is great. It's location is amazing, the owners and staff are extremely friendly and the room and breakfast were fab. The owner was very helpful with directions and staff recommended us places to eat. I would definitely use this hotel again.

“Wonderful stay at the Il Perseo!”

Hotel Il Perseo

5 of 5 stars
Scottsdale, AZ
Mar 5, 2008

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Il Perseo! Louise went out of her way to help me out at the Pharmacy when I got ill on the trip. Without her help I don't know what I would've done. She saved my vacation. The hotel is in a great location right by the Duomo. Good restaurants nearby. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was big by European standards. Breakfast was great. Lots of fresh fruit and great cappaucinos. I would definately recommend this to anyone looking for a nice hotel in Florence.

This place is amazing! The location is extremely close to the Duomo, which is the center of Florence.
Beginning with check-in, we were more than pleased with our accomodations. Our room was a triple, with a king size bed and a semi-private alcove for our son in a single bed. His space had a window with a beautiful view of the Duomo. The bathroom was very spacious with a huge step in shower. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels provided and absolutely immaculate at all times.
The breakfast was great, with yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal and warm rolls and croissants. The cappuchinos were amazing! Best in Florence. "Happy drink" began at 6pm, and we found ourselves looking forward to going back, resting and going to Happy Drink! We met the nicest people from all over the world there. First glass of wine is free and a minimal charge for subsequent drinks.
The staff was a wealth of information, advice and personality! The owners are onhand daily, and if time allows will sit and chat. They wil make restaurant recommendations and reservations, and any other reservations for museums etc. (Thanks Laura, Badr and Tarn) and of course Luisa!
The location for this hotel is superb......walk to the Duomo, train station, markets and museums. We always felt safe and secure walking in the area and in the hotel itself.
If you decide to stay at this hotel......you WILL NOT be disappointed! Enjoy!

We stayed at the Hotel Perseo from Feb 14th - 16th, 2008. We had two rooms total (one for me and my girlfriend and one for my Sister and Husband, who were celebrating their wedding anniversary while in Florence). I had contacted the Hotel prior to the arrival and asked them for something special for my sister and they put them in their "Honeymoon Suite" and gave them a free bottle of champange on arrival! They staff was excellent and extremely friendly. The rooms are small, but its Europe, get over it. Everything was clean and very nice. Happy Drink is nightly from 6p-8p, where you get a free drink and a chance to meet others staying at the hotel. I will definetly stay at this hotel again!
