This three-star hotel is in a great location about 30 seconds walking from the Duomo. Although it is in one of the busiest parts of Florence, the street noise does nto reach the bedrooms three floors up. When you walk in, you will think you've made a mistake to book there (the ground level is open to the street and not very well taken care of), but make your way up to the welcome area and into your room and you will feel better. If not immediately, take part in their nightly "happy drink" for a free glass of wine and then you will definitely feel better!
The rooms here are large, with the standard high ceilings you'll find in most Italian structures. The beds are comfortable and the flat-screen televisions get many good channels in multiple languages. The bathrooms are a little underwhelming--the shower temperature consistently went in steady waves from hot to cold and the drainage was not optimal. One upside is that the wall outlet here has a built-in voltage converter, so feel free to bring your haircare appliances (even though a blowdryer is also present)!
The best part of our stay though really was the staff. Everyone there is incredibly friendly, especially Badr who usually worked nights and hosted the happy hour. He offered numerous great reviews for local restaurants and clubs--I *really* feel like he knows the city of Florence.
If you plan to "really do" Florence on your stay, Hotel Perseo will provide a perfect place to lie your head at night, or rest your tired legs between sights in the city.
