This was the second stop on our honeymoon and in two important ways our favorite hotel: the location is absolutely unbeatable, right between the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio, and the room was really nice, with a comfortable bed, marble-lined bathroom, and lots of TV stations in English! Not to mention a view of the Duomo...if you leaned out the window. The breakfast was also the best of our trip, with scrambled eggs and other hot stuff. The only downside (if you can call it that) was that the hotel lacked Italian character -- you felt like you could be anywhere.

Perfect location in central Florence, two blocks from Duomo. Good room size. Teenage boys enjoyed ability to get sports scores through hotel laptop and internet access. Would stay here again. Best gelato at neon-lit store around corner and at Grom, two blocks away. Wonderful full course steak dinner at Il Latini a few blocks away.

We spent several nights at Hotel Calzaiuoli this September at the beginning and end of our vacation. It is an excellent 3-star hotel perfectly situated in the center of Florence. It's a short walk to the Piazza della Signoria and Piazza della Republica. The rooms are very clean, nicely furnished and attractive and have all the necessary amenities. The breakfast room is spacious and well-appointed, and the breakfast is excellent, with a broad selection that pleased several fussy foodies. The staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. The rooms were surprisingly quiet, even those facing busy Via Calzaiuoli. If you are looking for a destination hotel with a grand lobby, open air bar and a big view, or a honeymoon spot, look elsewhere. This hotel will most appeal to people who want a handsome, professionally run hotel in a prime location.

I've just returned from a short holiday in Florence and i've had a fantastic stay at Calzaiuoli. It's really in the historic city center, between Piazza della Signoria and Piazza Duomo, in Via dei Calzaiuoli, one of the most interesting street of shopping; from room 315 you could see Florence roofs and The Duomo on one side and the tower of Palazzo della Signoria on the other!
Hotel itself is wonderful: really clean, with beautiful furnitures, and also good toiletres. Also the included breakfast was great (try croissant with nutella - to die for). Staff was kind and efficient and would help you whatever you need (also let you arrive in front of the hotel with your car - usually not allowed in the city center - and arrange parking for you).
Most of all - Price. Only 120€ per night per room, for a triple deluxe with included breakfast for three people in the historic center of one of the most romantic city in the world. Yes, it was a special offer, but i would certainly come back also if prices are much higher.
Definitely not a three star but a four star without any doubt.
