IF YOU LIKE ROOMS THE SIZE OF A SHOW BOX...BOOK NOW !!!
Yes... I purchased my room via Priceline, as I'm sure many others have as well. Including all taxes my `1 night stay was just under $275 USD for a single night, and a pretty good deal even compared with average 3 star hotels.
If you are considering this hotel and are planning on using Priceline (other websites indicate that the Molino Stucky is generally available to those who bid for Venice 5 Stars) you should know that the hotel seems to have 2 classes of rooms.
I noticed that on the service carts (parked in the halls) that even the shampoo comes in 2 sizes... the regular Hilton size and a more deluxe large size (I suppose for the "Real 5 Star Rooms"
As a Priceline customer.. I never expect a "room with a view" (hey, but it happens) But there seems to be an extreme difference between in size (room and/or shampoo) between the lowest class and the average class of rooms.
In short... the non view rooms are TINY and if you read all the reviews you'll find others who have negative comments about the hotels rooms
If you buy via Priceline... don't expect most of the 5 Star Reviews to be relevant to your stay.
Yes its beautiful, very luxe, but I've never heard of a 5 Star expereince where the room was more or less a "Shoe Box"
I was LUCKY... I got one of the few "Shoe Boxes" with a view,
I doubt if there are many of them to be had.
If your looking for value....you need to consider that there does not seem to be a single pay phone on the whole island...this Molino Stucky is the only hotel I've ever seen that does not have a single pay phone. Oh and the food.... don't even think about eating at the Molino Stucky... just read the other reviews.
But a short walk along the water there are a few places that were far more reasonable than on the main island, filled with locals and to be honest.... the highlights of our stay. In my opinion these few restaurants are the only reason to visit the isalnd..... I'd suggest you stay on the main island and then with your water bus pass, visit and have a meal. As an example, our breakfast was 3 Euro for 2 people...total.
Also its far easier to reach the hotel using the water bus and walking a quarter mile with your luggage than dealing with the Hilton's free launch.... where you need to carry your luggage down into the boat vs. rolling on and off the water bus.
Last Point / and my Problem.... I wanted to use my telephone credit card to make a few calls... The pages regarding this in my room's leather binder were missing.... I called the "Magic" customer service and asked "how much to make a local call?"
and I was told "1 Euro" probably higher than a pay phone... but since none are available why not?..... at check out my 5 calls were charged at 27 Euro (seems its a Euro a minute) I declined to pay the 22 Euro difference and was told that I was "difficult"
at some point I was offered (since I was difficult" the opportunity to split the difference and pay 50%... I stood firm and finally paid the 5 Euro after explaining that I had a cell phone that costs me $.099 USD per minute.... why whould I choose to pay the Hilton the equiv. of $1.60 per minute for a call? Make sense to you?
Anyway I was shocked to be told that I was difficult and then very difficult.
In closing.. its pretty, unique, but lacks charm
Many other reviewers seem to concur about the staff
I wouldn't care to say here again, even if it was free. On my 3 week trip (UK, France, Italy) I stayed in a varitey of hotels from 1 Stars to 5.... and this was my least favorite hotel BY FAR
