“Take a water taxi”

Luna Hotel Baglioni

The good:
lovely, quiet location near st. marco square. We paid 500 euros a night for deluxe and were upgraded at check in to a large suite on the top floor. room 417. Nice sized living room. Nice sized bedroom with king bed. Large hallway with dressing area. Nice jacuzzi tub. twin sinks. There is no one above you so great for sleeping . Very peaceful and still in this room.

The bad: No canal views from 417. but decor was nice - a bit dated perhaps. After you get off the elevator you have to take a set of stairs to get up to your room. So don't drink too much when you are out.

The hotel location:
Location is amazing-right next to the main square. Theoretically, you could take the public vaporetto water taxi from the airport or train station since the hotel is right offf the main square where the boat stops...
... but don't do it. pay for a private water taxi. it is the one splurge i would highly recommend. skip dinner and a gandola ride if you have to but get your won private water taxi. you will thank me later.

Hotel costs:
breakfast is 30 euros( if you opt out).
Internet is free.
fruit plate is welcome gift.
Turn down service leaves free dark choclates. yum.

We had a maid who left one of our windows open and we had mosquitos. The concierge got us dinner reservations at Da Ivo--we'd skip it next time.

“Great location”

Luna Hotel Baglioni

Oct 16, 2007

We stayed here eight nights in October and found it excellent. The location is great: close to St Marks, vaporetto stops, shops and some excellent restaurants. Yet it is quiet, discreet and elegant. Our (superior) room was spacious with lots of wardrobe and drawer space, as was the bathroom. The view was better forgotten. The reception/concierge staff were excellent and had sound ideas on other restaurants – and gave good instructions for walking to them.

Service in the bar was sometimes slow - mainly because there were few customers. As well as drinks, it would produce salads and sandwiches. The self-service breakfasts cost €33, not €55 as previously suggested, and go on until 11am. There was an excellent selection of fruit, smoked salmon, cold meat, cheese, pastries as well as scrambled egg and bacon, but the juice did not taste freshly squeezed and the breads were disappointing (and the brown rolls ran out early). The ceiling of the breakfast room is definitely school of Tiepolo.

The restaurant is elegant, with tables well spaced – and sometimes fully booked. Most dishes we tasted on the two nights that we ate there were excellent, with only one disappointment. The service was discreet and friendly. Though the wine list does not say so, wine is available by the glass.

This is not a place for those who fight shy of marble, gilding and brocade, and unfortunately there is no space where one can sit outside. If you want internet access, bring your own lap-top. But it is quiet, comfortable and well-located.

We got the concierge to arrange our being met at, and delivered back to, the airport. At €190 a time, it was not cheap, but convenient, though we did have to search the arrivals hall for our greeter who seemed to have a long list of clients for whom she was searching.

“Discerning, experienced traveler LOVED this Hotel!!!”

If you are traveling to Venice, look no further! THIS IS IT!!! Have stayed at many 5 star hotels throughout the world, (Shangri-La in Singapore, Auberge du Soleil in Napa, etc...)and this hotel is in that league. SUPREME location, location, location. I trust this website and its users as the supreme crosscheck on all my travel. After reading previous posts, I went with this recommendation. I only had one day/one night to see Venice and wanted to be in the very epicenter, yet experience a lovely oasis at the same time. This is the deal. Email the hotel directly and have them arrange a water taxi direct to their private dock. Someone from the hotel can meet your plane, escort you to their private water taxi, (basically a sexy "Chriss Craft" type of speedboat for the quick, 10 minute trip into Venice.) This is the way to do it!!! Quick, elegant, efficient. The charge was about 90 euros, the same as the going rate on your own, but without the hassle. The hotel is literally 100 paces off a corridor leading into St. Mark's square. Our room was quiet as a tomb, beautifully appointed in Venetian fabrics with a gorgeous, modern immaculate bathroom, 2 sink, w/deep soaking tub, shower over bath. Front desk was lovely, especially FABIOLA! We felt like regulars in no time. Our room had no view #310, but for one night, not necessary. If staying for extended period, a view room is a MUST. I did mention this website when I made my water taxi request by email. Before dinner, the management sent us a complimentary lovely tray of appetizers and glasses of champagne to welcome us. Elegant and appreciated touch! Literally around the corner to the left, then take your first left towards the Grand Canal and you are at Harry's Bar. We entered, well dressed and cheery and were treated as welcomed guests. Sat at the bar and had Claudio mix us their traditional Bellini. SUBLIME. When I go back to Venice with family in tow, we will be staying at this hotel. I did check out the Danielli, and though gorgeous, not as centrally located. FIVE STARS on this one!

“We liked it better than the Hotel Cipriani!”

Luna Hotel Baglioni

Sep 4, 2007
5/5 found this review helpful

We stayed here one night and Hotel Cipriani the next. And we actually enjoyed the Luna more! Upon arrival they upgraded us to one of their top 3 rooms. (We had only booked a junior suite). The room was gorgeous and huge! It also had a 300 sq ft terrace! Breakfast was fantastic and the staff was kind enough to let us come in even after service had finished. (We were so comfortable in our room that we slept in!). It is a stone's throw from St Mark's Square and all the luxury shops. The staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

“Very good hotel”

Luna Hotel Baglioni

The Luna Baglioni was the perfect hotel for us to discover Venice.
1 - It's just greatly located just meters from San Marco
2 - the hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful. We actually stayed at the Baglioni with our 11-month old daughter, which could have been such a weird experience! But luckily we were granted an upgrade from a junior suite to a suite with a real living room sepretated from the bedroom + room service is perfect (Thank you so much Francesco for your kindness) for everything you need, from parents dinner to baby bottle cleaning.
We'll definitely stay again at this hotel and it's good to feel like nowadays some hotel chains know how to make their clients feel perfecto.
