On the lakefront and only five minutes walk from the town centre, La Palma combines comfort and elegance. We had a great room overlooking the lake and the Borromean Islands, plenty of space and a whirlpool bath.

The bar and restaurant are well-staffed and comfortable.

The only thing I can find fault with is the lack of fresh fruit at breakfast, something which needs to be addressed, at least in the summer months when I expect to find strawberries and melon waiting for me in the morning.

We stayed at La Palma for 3 nights in mid-April, 2008. The room was spacious, the bathroom well appointed, and the lakefront view special. I look especially for 2 things in European hotels -- nice bathrooms and good breakfasts. La Palma had the additional advantage of a spacious room. I chose La Palma based upon reviews on TripAdvisor in the hotels section and in the forum. We were not disappointed. The persons I corresponded with regarding the reservation were very helpful. Front desk personnel were courteous and efficient. Stresa proved to be a good jumping off point for touring both Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta. If you're too tired to head out to the highly recommended Verbano ristorante, we enjoyed a very nice meal at Taverna del Pappagallo.

La Palma was extraordinary !!!!! Right on Lake Maggiore. Our room was stupendous with balcony overlooking the lake, and a beautiful bathroom. We were on the 6th floor which was great and located right across from the spa, and one floor from the roof top solarium with extraordinary views. The staff were magnificent and gave us a lot of time for advice. The lobby was outstanding, large, elegant, and comfortable. Wonderful underground parking lot, and when you arrive (not knowing where everything is yet) the bell hop will park your car for you, after he unloads everything. Hotel was a short 5 minute walk from the main ferry dock and center of town, with many restaurants.

spent 4 days last year in April the place was beautiful with everything in bloom. Arirved just after the Easter opening. Going back this year for our 35th anniversary and also to plan my 60th birthday party there in '09. I have never been anywhere in the world where the staff treated you so nice, you feel very welcome and it's not because to threw money at them.
Everyone was helpful, spoke English, loved the fact that I tried to speak some italian. Waterfront room very comfortable.
