We arrived into Rome at about 6pm thinking that we had plenty of time to find accommodation. Were we wrong. Little did we know that the Pope was coming out the next day, and there were literally 1000's of tourists staying in Rome to see him. Eventually we found the Adriatic, and what a surprise it was.
Hotel Adriatic is the only two star hotel I have ever stayed in, and I must say that it was really nice, a lot nicer than I was expecting.
The rooms are of a decent size and the bathrooms have just been renovated, so are a decent size and have all the amenities you would expect from a 3 or 4 star hotel.
This hotel was cleaner than some of the 5 star hotels I have stayed in, and though it is practically on a main street, it is not as noisy as you would expect.
The hotel doesn't offer breakfast, but that doesn't matter, because there are many cafe's to choose from right down the road.
As well as being only 3 blocks from the vatican, there is also good public transport in the area.

Unique Qualities: I can't get over how clean the room was and all of the people at the front desk speak english.

“Fantastic Location, Comfortable Hotel Great Value”

Booked this hotel on last.minute.com. Was a little wary as got a really great price. No need to have worried, this hotel was comfortable, just a room but clean and in a fantastic location. It was really close to all the main attractions and the metro. The vatican is literally just 5 mins walk. Catsle angelo 5 mins the other way.
We were hardly in the room as there was so much to do so nothing more than comfortable was necessary. Would definately go back any day was perfect for a weekend city break.

“Fantastic location - Good, Basic, Friendly, Clean Hotel”

My Husband and I stayed here for a 5 day city break in October 2006. Fantastic location. We were able to walk to all of the major tourist attractions from here (all within a 2.5 mile radius) Facilities were basic but very clean and I would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel. Top tip - bring travel kettle tea/coffee.
You can walk to this Hotel from the train/tube. Easy to find.
I would however also recommend ear plugs as it can be a bit noisy with traffic below.

“OK hotel, good location ...”

Have just returned from a lovely break in Rome, don't know if anyone else has found this recently, but we were eaten alive by mosquito's ...in December*!!!

Stayed at the Hotel Adriatic and while it was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful, we did think it was a little outdated and dark despite the website stating it was renovated in 2004.

The wallpaper was peeling off in our room (No 61) and the carpet was a bit grubby but the huge bed was clean and comfortable. We did get this room for 3 nights for a bargain price though, so wouldn't complain too much. It is ideally situated for the Vatican City and there are some really nice restaurants nearby.

If visiting the Vatican Museums (Superb!) we'd recommend you don't visit the cafe directly opposite the exit ... they charge a *fortune* for snacks and drinks!

Was able to stay at the Adriatic while on vacation in Italy a few years ago. It is in a great location. Bus stop very close by. Tour buses come to the front door.

It was clean and everything you need to stay within a budget and be pleased. Nothing over the top.....but if I were going back, that is exactly where I would stay again!
