“what a pleasant surprise in Rome!”

Hotel Golden

I stayed at the Golden hotel for two nights in July 2007. I had three rooms, two doubles and a triple. Everybody in the group enjoyed their stay immensely. The rooms were spotless and nicely decorated. The large bathrooms sparkled and came with nice toiletries. Where else can you find your personal plush bathrobes in a two star hotel?
Breakfast was lovely, with warm pastries, selection of jams, fruit, cereals and savory items.
The location was ideal for us. It's in a very nice part of Rome and we felt completely safe at all times. There is a very convenient taxi stand just around the corner of the hotel. Although we tried to walk everywhere, Rome is a big city, so we took a cab here and there.
I would recommend dinner at the San Marco restaurant, a two minute walk from the hotel. We had many selections from the menu and not one item disappointed us. Try the Tonnarelli with cacio e pepe.

“great value”

This hotel is wonderful value as you get to stay in the poshest area of Rome without paying the premium. The owners really take pride in their hotel and it is spotlessly clean. We had a twin superior room and it really was lovely. The bathroom was fabulous. It really is hard to believe how good this place is. As for breakfast, well the room is far too small and so sometimes I felt like I wanted to get out of there fast so that others could sit down. Also, the staff are milling about a lot at breakfast and I personally feel uncomfortable with that. But the food itself is fine and the standard of the rooms more than make up for the breakfast. The staff are fluent Spanish and English speakers and are very helpful. The hotel's location is brilliant; it's near the Gardens and also near to bus stops for the sightseeing buses. A gem of a hotel!

What a wonderful place! We coudn't have enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Golden more. I booked the hotel because of the positive reviews and reasonable price, and they really paid off.
The family owned an operated hotel is located in a very nice area of Rome known as the Via Veneto. You are within walking distance to the Trevi Fountain, and Spanish Steps, You can actually walk to many other sites if you bring good walking shoes. The hotel will be happy to provide any directions, maps and transportaion information.
We were provided continental breakfast every morning of our stay. the coffee and the danish were the best!
Upon arrival you will find a dish of candy in your room and a bottle of proseco wine as a gift for you. The candy dish is filled daily.
If you like to sleep with your window open the noise from outside will keep you awake all night. The hotel is air conditioned, so you really shouldn't have to open the window.
The owners really take pride in how they maintaine the property. The rooms are spotless. The baths are clean and come with shampoo etc, and hair dryer.
There is a computer available for your use during your stay at no charge.
The transportation they provide for $35euros is well worth the price. The driver was right there to pick us up at the airport and wisked us off to the hotel. We used this transportation again we we returned to the airport.

“Good value hotel”

We booked the Hotel Golden for a three night stay after checking a load out on Tripadvisor. We decided to go for a cheaper hotel that had good reviews, rather than pay more and risk dissapointment.

The hotel was clean, comfortable, quiet (v. effective double glazing). The location was OK, a bit of an uphill walk on the way back, but nothing horrendous. The closest tourist attraction is the Spanish Steps, about 5 mins away. The nearest Metro is about the same.

For breakfast, don't expect anything more than the usual continental selection, and you won't be dissapointed. Breakfast room can get full at busy times.

Overall, I was pleased with our choice and would recommend this hotel if all you are after is a clean comfortable base for some sightseeing. At 38 degrees though a pool would have been great!!!

“Don't Stay Here If You Want To Sleep!”

A friend and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. TripAdvisor has never steered us wrong but this time was different. The hotel was very clean but the family that runs it is VERY noisy. Our room was right in the lobby and we mine as well been sleeping in their living room. If you want to sleep past 6 am just forget it! The two brothers that run the hotel are very nice and helpful but their parents live there and the mother is EXTREMELY loud. There seems to be no consideration that people might be trying to get a good nights rest. If you are the kind of people that turn in early and are up with the sun then this place is for you or try to get a room that is as far away from the lobby as possible. I will not stay at this hotel again.
