We stayed at this hotel as we heard from relatives that it was THE place to stay in Gibraltar. The hotel has had many famous guests over the years. I dont think that the location is as good as the other leading hotels in Gib. We didn't have use of a car and the walk to the hotel is up a very steep hill. The hotel will arrange taxis for you and they are a reasonable price.
I was impressed with the lobby area which was spacious and filled with many large plants and comfy sofas. There is a disabled lift at street level that takes you up to the lobby area, but unfortunately you then need to take steps down to the front desk.
Our room was on the third floor and was spacious enough for the four of us. I really liked the large, clean bathroom. We had a small balcony that gave a lovely view of Spain.
Breakfast was substantial. There is a good selection of cereals, fruits, yoghurts, cheeses and cold meat. There is also bacon, scrambled eggs, sauages, beans, mushrooms etc if you fancy a full english.
We never ate at the restaurant but we did order room service a few times. The food was of a high quality and served to our room quickly.
We were accidentally charged for a meal we never had at the restaurant, so I would advise people to carefully check their bill when they check out from the hotel.
