“a pleasant place to spend -- as we did -- five nights”

Parador de Tordesillas

This is a very pleasant hotel on the old (i.e., pre-autovia) road between Tordesillas and Salamanca. The room was spacious, pleasantly old-fashioned, and very quiet. French doors opened onto a green space with a pleasant morning scene. The dining room served quite good food. Staff were very obliging -- and since we did not have a car (we travelled by bus, and used Tordesillas as a "base" to visit Salamance, Valledolid, and Medina del Campo) helped us with schedules. However, the hotel is about a couple of kilometres outside town -- a bit of a hike for those who don't like walking. Our only complaint -- a rather trivial one -- is that we were given a gift bottle of area wine, but were not allowed to drink it with our dinner. It was for taking home -- to Canada???

Going again to the parador of Tordesillas, i have a feeling that the restaurant is not working very well, namely it has a short menu (that is a problem since the paradores changed the menu) and a very limited wine lyst, especially without the wines from the region of the parador (rueda or toro) that someone would expect.
The breafast is good but there are not suficient staff to serve at the weekend (i had to wait a long time for a table in two days and the products where always missing and we had to wait for a while to get new ones).
The rooms and facilities are ok and the staff is very friendly

The Parador lies just off the entrance to the town of the same name and is really nice. We stayed here 7 Jun 05. The reception was quick if not a little cool. the Parador Tordesillas has some really nice settings and the rooms are ample. The entrance to the room has a small foyer with the bathroom all tiled in marble; included in the ammenities are soaps, shampoos, comb, etc. bedding was very good. the pillows seemed a little hard but very good. Very nice view of the gardens. Dinner was great as was the breakfast with Spanish Tortilla, Churros, ham, Iberian Ham, Chesses, coffee, milk, cereal, etc. until 11:00 am. We enjoyed our 1 night stay there.
