Thankfully I had checked tripadvisor before organising accommodation in San Sebastian because I found Pension Bellas Artes - a gem!

We stayed four nights in this beautiful city on our 10-day trip to the Basque Country and it was by far the best part of our holiday.

Leire and her mum were so helpful, pointing us in the direction of the best places to eat. I've missed those pinxtos since returning home!

Leire also went out of her way to help us organise accommodation in Santander and Haro (thanks for that Leire, the Los Agostinos was fantastic, but not as nice as your pension!)

We couldn't fault anything here, from our charming hosts to the spotless room.

Both my boyfriend and I have travelled extensively throughout Europe, the US, Africa and South East Asia and Pension Bellas Artes is up there with the best hotels.

Two words of advice - stay here!

“Our Favorite Hotel in Spain!”

We stayed at Pension Bellas Artes for two nights during our 10-day trip around northern Spain in May 2008. It was by far the best hotel experience we've ever had in Spain. The hotel itself has been beautifully renovated and there were fresh flowers in both the bedroom and the bathroom. The owner, Leire, and her mother are unbelievable friendly – they are the best part about Pension Bellas Artes. We had a wonderful stay from check-in to checkout – some highlights were the map Leire provided at check-in on which her mother had hand-written the best restaurants to go to, and the dinner reservation Leire made for my birthday. We loved San Sebastian and cannot wait to come back and stay at Pension Bellas Artes again! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!

Leire gave me such a warm welcome and ensured I had a wonderful stay in San Sebastian. I felt like I'd fallen on my feet as soon as I met her - she catered for every need. She made sure I was fed and gave me a beautiful clean room with a lily and chocolates by my bed. She labelled a map for me and told me where to eat fresh food and the names of the restaurant owners so I could get the best service. Her English is great so she understood everything.
Leire and her mum really put my needs first. I'm an international traveller and know what I like - this is truly a great place to stay if you want that friendly feel with comfort and cleanliness. It's even an ideal location too.

“Charming Hosts-Great value”

Pension Bellas Artes was selected after reviewing the options in TripAdvisor and it proved to be an excellent choice. Well located within walking distance from the bus station, shopping and old town restaurants , it provided clean ,comfortable and affordable accommodation. This was enhanced by the charming hosts who went out of their way to assist. An excellent place to stay when in San Sebastian.

We have found this pension from Trip Advisor when we were at Biarritz. It was late to book from internet wo we have contacted them directly. The pension is like a hotel, very clean and comfortable, the flowers are wonderfull! The hotel owners are very friendly and nice people; Carmen and Leire. They have helped us a lot. All reviews are true! Thank you Trip Advisor! Sorry no pictures.
