Also stayed here the weekend of 13th June. the hotel itself was fine, the staff didn't speak brilliant English, but i see that more as my problem than theirs! they weren't overly friendly, but the barman (if you managed to find him) poured the biggest gins in Spain! interesting experience of rooms as I was there with my whole family. I was in a standard room which was fine - mini bar didn't work but big bathroom (double sink) more than made up for that. My parents and brother had upgraded their rooms and ended up with 2 completely different types of room - one was huge but dark with flowery wallpaper and mahogany-style furniture and the other was as small as my room but obviously newly refurbished and had a big widescreen TV on one wall and funky black and white decor. I guess your preference would depend on your taste.
Like other people i was impressed by the roof-top terrace & pool (not as small as i thought it would be) and could have spent a lot of time there. also got recommended the beach which i thought was a bit of a dump with few to no nice restaurants around. to my mind you're better sticking around the cathedral or taking a car up to Nerja (about an hour away)
To address any concerns people have about driving to the hotel, we fared slightly better than the review below. Driving to the hotel was indeed a bit of a nightmare, but basically if you follow signs to Malaga from the airport (even the ones that look unlikely and seem to take you off the motorway) you will actually eventually pick up a yellow sign to the hotel once you start coming into Malaga (i only saw one sign though so keep an eye out). I couldn't find an email address for the hotel so used the google map on their website (the airport is down and left a bit on that map from the hotel if you're scrolling) which did the job okay. Just remember that if you want to turn left at a big roundabout in Malaga you have to come off on a slip road just before it on the right to cross the roundabout that way. Slightly confusing but if you get it wrong you'll just have to turn around later.
We stopped outside the hotel and went in to ask for directions to their car park (took a lesson from the previous reviewer so didn't ask for their permission!). they do have a car park (2 actually, each holds about 8 cars) round the back of the hotel but they have to give you a map to get to it as annoyingly it's back round the one way system. Car park is first come first served but we were pretty much the only ones in there all weekend (maybe this is a businessman's hotel so could be busy during the week). You have to press a buzzer by some blue gates to get let in and out of the car park.
All in all, if i went back i'd consider staying there again but it wasn't hugely memorable.
