“Lovely hotel with fab views”

Parador de Malaga Gibralfaro

We stayed at this Parador for our anniversary weekend on a 2 night special offer, booked direct with the Parador - this is two nights with Bed, Breakfast & Evening meal. We arrived very early on out first day (10:30am) so that we could enjoy the stay & we were given our key straight away. All rooms have a balcony, which is real bonus, as the views are wonderful. We booked a standard room which was very nice, with large bed, writing desk, two comfortable chairs, trouser press, hairdryer, minibar etc.

The restaurant was great as it was possible to eat outside on the restaurant balcony with views over Malaga. The menu was typical for the region (as with all other Paradors) - and although I enjoyed the food, it wasn´t as good as the Jaen Parador - however this was just my personal taste. The waiters were attentive & friendly. The breakfast was extensive with all you would expect - again eaten outside.

The rooftop pool was small & I can imagine could get crowded, however we were there at the weekend in July & it wasn´t too busy.

“Old School Hotel with fantastic views”

A typical Parador with a fantastic setting and superior service. Rooms are a little old school but the setting more than makes up for it. We had a superior room with a terrace overlooking the city and the bull ring. A very special view. Breakfast was good too!

“Expensive, but what a view!”

Surprisingly we found appealing accomodation hard to find in Malaga, we may have been looking in the wrong area. We spotted the parador sign and headed there. It sits on top of the hill and the view over the harbour and bay is stunning. We were quoted €149 which is almost double what we paid in many other 4 or 5 star hotels, but we though the location was so nice we would stay. The room with a view was perfect. The resteraunt menu was expensive and two regional for our taste. We ate in the bar and paid €24 for what was basically two beef rolls and a little salad with a glass of wine. They seemed understaffed and the girl on duty had all the worries of the world on her sholders. Breakfast was fine and no dearer than anywhere else.

“Let down by restaurant service”

Parador de Malaga Gibralfaro

Southern England

Excellent spacious room and very clean and comfortable. But as noted in other comments the overall experience was let down by the service in the restaurant. This was surprising as on the first night we could not fault it. The second was a continuing catalogue of very offhand service culminating in a bill which was inaccurate (it included a dessert - a course which was never even offered!). We found alternative places to eat after this.
